  1. Is Pets R Us related to Toys R Us? I don't think so. Claim: The Holistic Approach to Pet care. Here goes: WOOF, WOOF, MEOW, MEOW!
  2. 1. Nowadays, there is a concern of bird flu or those N1H1 type of disease. 2. Again, the architect or pool designer got it all wrong! 3. Such wall features encourage birds = bird baths. 4. For just a few minutes, I have seen at least 8 to 12 birds attracted to the wall water spouts. And a few even flap their wings and wash themselves on these "bird baths". 5. Don't get me wrong. It looks "nice". But, nowadays with the dreaded bird flu; we don't want their flu to be actively passed to us humans. What more from a shared facility. 6. Here, it is odd that we were advised to wash ourselves first before jumping into the pool; to reduce the incidence of disease; here, these birds and many more, literally wash themselves and their poo in the "bird bath". 7. What's wrong with the architect and pool designers? Most likely their mantra is "WE DON'T STAY THERE! WE DON'T CARE AFTER GETTING PAID!" 8. Instead: You stay there, we don't should be the key essence!
  3. The first thing that comes to everyone's mind is the concern of drowning in a swimming pool. However, this pool also has another "hidden" danger! When architects design a swimming pool; best to avoid too much chrome objects. For example, the entire railings that separate the baby's / children pool from the adult pool are large expanse of chrome balls and rails. During the hot sun, common sense says that such metal objects absorb lots of heat. And just a short moment (even) of accidental placement of hands onto such balls may cause a certain degree of burn. Thus, we already know the dangers of drowning. Why add more DANGERS to the pool? Can you imagine what I say? from the photos? Location: The Elysia at 6 Mar Thoma Road. A small 999 condo that TOP in 2005.
  4. This is a good design as there is minimal support pillars for each of the car porch in this twin semi-detached homes. The roofs are slightly slanted to allow for active water-flow during a downpour. Thus driving into and opening car doors is a piece of cake. Overall a good designWITHOUT the need for those wires that dangle and support the roof anchored to the wall.
  5. This illustration shows that various corners of a bedroom often don't have good air refresh cycles. Thus, such corners are ideal for the placement of wardropes.
  6. Feng Shui is about the scientific studiesand theart of applying it correctly.
  7. Words of wisdom: Your car is German. Your vodka is Russian. Your pizza is Italian. Your kebab is Turkish Your democracy is Greek. Your coffee is Brazilian. Your movies are American. Your tea is Tamil. Your shirt is Indian. Your oil is Saudi Arabian. Your electronics are Chinese. Your numbers Arabic, Your alphabetletters Latin. And you complain that your neighbour is an immigrant? Pull yourself together.
  8. Common sense says that a corner of a bedroom often has stagnant or static air. Thus, often, such corners are where we place part of our ward-rope at. Unless of course, one turns on a fan to blow towards that area or turn on the air-con.
  9. These canes continue to be favored by parents in contemporary society. They differ significantly from the "Singapore cane" employed in prisons for punishing offenders like vandals or troublemakers. Instead, these canes are primarily utilized by parents, particularly mothers, as a means to exert control or as part of a philosophy of tough love.
  10. I have already, placed the centrepoint on the attachment. And it shows that the kitchen is exactly at the cardinal point of NW = Fire at heaven's gate. If there are more "leaks"; this can pull down the luck for the owners. Especially it can affect the career of the MALE breadwinner (if there is one for this home) + also "No Luck". In case, one does not know what is "Fire @ Heaven's gate" Please use the Search feature on the TOP LEFT frame of this forum to search this term.
  11. This is a traditional belief of the Cantonese (Chinese dialect group) of praying to all the FIVE GODS (spirits) in a home or premises. Here, the five gods are: NORTH, SOUTH, EAST, WEST and the CENTER God(s). Location a coffee shop at Jalan Bukit Merah. Here, there are 5 tea cups below it are also 5 "sweet" cakes.
  12. These are some considerations: 1. Two concepts : 1.1. Pure Common sense 1.2. Symbolism in Feng Shui 1.1. PURE COMMON SENSE 1.1.1. Where possible, swords (are similar) to weapons should not be readily accessible by YOUNG children. 1.1.2. Not very often thieves would walk into the home. But if they do, and if they feel threaten could easily get hold of one of the swords and... the rest may be history 1.2. SYMBOLISM IN FENG SHUI 1.2.1 It is considered inauspicious to display swords e.g. in the living room or family areas or bedrooms. 1.2.2 Here, under symbolism, it may imply quarrels and conflicts. 2. Thus, if one has children at home then either placed higher or locked them up. 3. Overall, common sense says that they could be displayed e.g. in a personal study room.
  13. This "light-weight" disabled lift system can be found at Fairprice, Marine Parade Central. Compared to a full blown lift, maybe one can consider installing such a lift. You can see that all one needs is a "hole" from one level to another. And the exterior is like any other room doors and wall panels.
  14. Males are not allowed in the Ladies Toilet. But, if there is a notice @ the male's toilet. It could be that there is another notice in the female's toilet.... Frankly, I may be wrong! BUT WHO KNOWS? Here goes...
  15. The Warren condo at Choa Chu Kang seems to know more about the bird and the bees than even the ordinary people. Attached is an unusual sign, foundin the Male's toilet ofThe Warren condominium. It tells ofthe story that boys who are 4 years and abovemay know a thingor two about the birds and the bees. And it also implies thatboys at that age and above; have grown up and also loves the finer things in life!
  16. Oh dear! My back is against my bedroom door. MUM!, Please don't peep into my room! PLEASE. I am not seeing a blue film. It is the FAMOUSblue screen of death as my windows 95 died on me!
  17. Let's AIM for this method, please!
  18. When I "study"; my back is against the bedroom door.... Common sense says: Children don't like their study table to face the bedroom door "I hate having my back facing the bedroom door. So I tilted my computer so that my mum cannot figure out what I am doing on the computer!
  19. Some of us feel uncomfortable throwing away a decorative object. Especially if the object to some has been considered as or in the "name of Fung Sway". Therefore, some of us WANT/ NEED full closure on this episode.
  20. These are some considerations: 1. The good news, first:- 1.1. Fortunately it is not nuclear waste material nor 1.2. Bio-hazard waste such as used needles and other operating waste. 2. Another good news is that : there are NO BAD news, here. 3. Frankly, many who were in your same position and wanted to throw the items did so in a normal way. 3.1. Normal way : range from just wrapping it in a supermarket plastic bag or paper bag. 3.2. Some even simply just throw it into their apartment rubbish chute. 3.3. Some even just leave them beside the "bulk" waste area of the rubbish cute area. 3.4. For those who worry too much, or think that it is such a crime to throw away the pixui, may / could wrap it up in used newspaper, scotched tape it or tie a robe. 3.5. And if is extra, extra guilty, may want to tie it with a red string and then throw it under Para 3.1 to 3.3. Which ever suits that person's guilty persona. 4. Frankly, there is no hard or fast rule or an encyclopedia Britannica bible to follow. 5. Thus if one feels so guilty over it; and needs to have full closure then, go more for the ultra conservative method such as Para 3.4. 6. BTW, if it's me, I will simply get one of those opaque coloured supermarket plastic bags; place it in the plastic bag, tie it up and throw it away. Oops! Sorry, I don't own a pixui! So, maybe I am not qualified at all to give such an advice! YOUR CALL, not mine!
  21. Source and credit of attached map: Streetdirectory.com Esparina Residences, Jewel @ Buangkok & The Quartz These are three different developments with totally different block layout designs. 1. The Quartz condo: GOES WITH THE FLOW : BOLD, WELL THOUGHT OUT& UNIQUE DESIGN 1.1 If one examines the layout of the blocks within The Quartz, it has THREE POCKETS of Clear space as highlighted in YELLOW. ( A very clever and go with the flow design = Good Shapes and Forms) 1.2 The architect really knows how to go with the flow, here. And this unconventional layout (design) is advantages for flow of qi. With a vast majority of stacks enjoying large expense of clear space viewed from their balcony. 2. Esparina Residences EC: CONSERVATIVE, "RIGHT BRAIN" DESIGN 2.1 Perhaps, cannot blame the architect. As this plot of land is compact. 2.2 But the arrangement of the blocks are pure text-booklayout. Most likely the architect uses more of his RIGHT BRAIN: Systematic, conservative and orderly approach in designing the entire development blocks/stacks. Pretty common layout type. Some even say, may not go wrong. But truly boring layout. 2.3 Kind of acopycat design mimickingThe Luxurie @ Sengkang, La Fiesta etc... 3. Jewel @ Buangkok by City Developments Ltd: FIRST LOOKS: ARCHITECT IN A HURRY TO FETCH DAUGHTER! 3.1 A plus point is that the Point blocks are spaced out. 3.2 Do you fancy a dual level water scape? Erh what is that? 3.3 Otherwise, most likely the architect was in a hurry to fetch his daughter from school. And was late a day before and warned of a penalty. In a real hurry, the architect, came up with the jumbled layout! 3.4 Good if the correct stack/unit is chosen. So, so if left to the elements! Source and credit of attached map: Streetdirectory.com
  22. These are some considerations: 1. Will not cover by rankings favourable stacks as a few clients have yet to go to select their flats. Selection is around 1 to 2 months time. 2. This small neighbourhood development called Skypeak @ Bukit batok has an entrance to the MSCP car park along either Bukit Batok Street 21 as well as another another entrance /exit at Bukit Batok East Ave 6. 3. This development is next to the EC The Dew. 4. The entrance/exit is opposite HDB Blk 217 which has a coffee shop below / facing the Bukit Batok Street 21. 5. Amongst all the various rankings, I found this development to be "tricky". Given that client wanted a HDB 5 Bedroom. 5.1. And if there are soap opera plots; this development has a-plenty of it! 5.2. For example: some stacks has to be extra careful of school's roofing; 5.3. Other stacks has to avoid low floors so as not to look at the pavilion where often; wakes / funerals are conducted at these location. 5.4. There are also low floors facing the multi storey (MSCP) car park. 5.5. There are also low floors that may face the poison arrow from the drop-off roofing. 6. Then some of the better (HDB 5 Bedrooms) have the kitchen at NW. Which given so many other factors; may sometimes be lesser of an issue. As some of the flats also are affected by the afternoon sun - especially soaking into the walls and oozing out at 8 or even 9pm. 7. Thus, it is a challenge especially if one's queue number is right at the back and have to content with lower floors - storeys.. I don't want to be in their shoes when "forced" to choose your "dream unit". Good Luck! Will only post the completed rankings many months after the selection exercise has been completed and over and out!
  23. This pair of "delicate" bronze / bronze looking qi lin seems rare as seldom see this version. This version of Qi Lin is standing on it's four legs... (On guard - alert position - ready to pounce!)
  24. 1. The best way to look at an entire area is to look at a large map of the surrounding areas of a development. 2. Within Adora Green DBSS,there are a total of 6 other uncompleted HDB developments:- 1. Acacia Breeze 2. Flora Spring 3. Vista Spring 4. Yishun Riverwalk 5. Yishun Natura 6. Yishun Jade Spring 3. I would say in GENERAL, because of the site location Adora Green would stand out quite well. Of course some of above developments do have their good points; 4. But generally, Adora Green has good External environment as to the East of this development are low rise schools: Two of them: North View Sec School and Huamin Primary School. 5. To it's south and south-west across Yishun Avenue 11; is the Yishun Park. 6. To it's West is the Yishun Pond. 7. To it's NW is the Yishun Pond Park. 8. And to it's North and North East is the Canal Park connector. 9. Thus little wonderwhy I consider it one of the BETTERplots of land/ site underconstruction.
