  1. Dear Patrick, Would it be possible to upload a simple sketch of the home. This is because, if you go thru some of the past postings, some homes can take "advantage" of the cul-de-sac to collect wealth, but others are "hammered" by it. Warmest Regards, Cecil Does this have the same Anyone's Thank
  2. Dear Anon, Yes, sometime back in the 1970's it was very common to purchase boomerangs from Oz. Frankly, I myself had also did decorate my home with a single boomerang and at one time two huge fork and spoons! So far, to me, it seems that they do not remotely look like knifes or swords. Thus I feel it is OK. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  3. Developer: Hoi Hup Holdings Pte Ltd Location: Jalan Rama Rama Tenure Freehold Total No of Units 204 Expected TOP Date 30 June 2008 Types of units: 2 Bedrooms 1,055 to 1,055sqf 3 Bedrooms 1,259 to 1,615sqf 4 Bedrooms 2,939 to 3,025sqf This development has two blocks: The Duke and The Duchess Overall, it looks like all the better units had been snapped up i.e. especially #03 and #05. Blocks #02 and #07 in my opinion are considered unfavourable because of the fact that these units are exposed to the afternoon sun. Imagine! daily (especially in sunny Singapore) one returns to a very warm Master bedroom! and even the bedroom 2 cannot escape the afternoon sun. Do seriously consider buying such homes even if the bedrooms suit "west group people". If we only use the Eight House to match our homes, than this is a very serious case of mismatch! Or the wrong application of Feng Shui! Warmest Regards, Cecil
  4. Dear Eleni, If you are D.I.Y. Feng Shui, then, it is best that you may have to (depending on your interest and absorption), take as little as a month or even 6 to 1 year to really understand some of the key principles. I understand, many of us, simply want to read a book on Feng Shui and apply the ideas immediately. However, it is not like "William Hung" of the American Idol fame, http://www.williamhung.org who thinks that every area can be "cultivated" or worked on for everyone. For example, several years back, this Doctor, sought to practice Feng Shui. Usually doctors are intelligent people. But this doctor thought that Feng Shui is just like reading books on the human anatomy. Where if the book precisely state the heart and it's vessels it is exactly what we see is what we get. Similiarly perhaps for the naive William Hung, he has intelligence and I believe, he thought that any thing can be "taught" to us. And we should have no problem achieving it. For example, he mentioned something like " I do not have any training" Simon Cowell replied -- "this is the surprise of the century". The doctor, read one book, and painted his doors and main gate in the colours based on e.g. North = water, South = fire etc... But later, oops, when he read more, perhaps, he had used the wrong colours etc... Therefore, if you are doing it D.I.Y. one may have to do much more homework. Otherwise, get others to do it for them. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  5. Dear Samatha, Another alternative is the grille gate. Here, for example, if one has a stainless steel or aluminium gate, some of the panels can be flushed with "steel" or aluminium sheet. Such that for the steel sheet, it covers e.g. the knee level or sometimes we see aluminium gates that have a large area covered up. It is nice to have the steel sheet covering the gille gate surface as it is reflective. And this reflection is akin to a ba gua mirror. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  6. Dera Fiona, To be honest, one area to look at is Feng Shui. But equally important is many other factors especially that each of our character has been formed throughout our young age. This is why, most of the time, when we reach 18 or 21, we are allowed to sign a specific signature. As our character component is already comprise of what we are. Under Chinese horoscope, the only explanation is that the best match for a Rat partner is the dragon or monkey. Whilst the ram is not as a good match. The worst conflict is a horse with rat. Usually, the major part of Feng Shui is to allow for a good home environment conducive to family life. And from here, the spin-off is that a good family life is the building block or starting point. Wow! changing 4 homes is indeed often stressful for the couple. Perhaps, this is due to the postings to various parts of the country - for work etc... Where possible, it is always best to avoid the frequency of too many relocations. Overall, other than the above, sometimes, it is good to get an outsider e.g. counsellor to help the couple. (although, many times, Chinese often do not like this medium). This reminds me of the various earlier posting on this subject. Where, often a new couple, are like two persons thrown into a "jungle". Both have to adapt to the environment as well to themselves. This classic case that I always remember was that for example, the husband anyhow squeeze toothpaste. And the wife gets really agitated finding this despite her constant yaking over this issue. And often, such small issues often spark into larger issues. Sometimes, when married too long, if one can have a baby, it would be good. (If they have not have one already). Warmest Regards, Cecil
  7. Dear Nisha, Actually, the concern of a mirror facing the bed stems from the belief that when one sleeps, some Chinese belief that the spirit leaves the body. When doing so, it may get a "shock" to see itself in the mirror. This is why, often, numerous Feng Shui books or practitioners does not favour having a mirror facing the bed. However, in the past I had mentioned that more importantly, it has to do with "how sensitive" we are or are not. For example, contrary to the above belief, we could say that when we sleep, our spirit, leaves our body. And, because it wants to look nice, look into the mirror and combs his/her hair before, going off! 2. Overall, we often hear that some people literally do not feel anything even if there are mirrors all round the bedroom. They can sleep comfortably. While others who are more sensitive feel uncomfortable with a mirror in the bedroom. (Most likely these are the people, who read too much Feng Shui books on do's and don'ts!) 3. When television was invented, and nowadays, almost all bedrooms have tv sets. Some practitioners say that having a tv set facing the bed is inauspicious, since the tv set screen is like a mirror. 4. But how often if ever do we read in the newspaper: "Mr X moved in to new apartment, placed a tv set in his bedroom and drop dead???" 5. Many new tv sets even have non-reflective screens e.g. lcd monitors etc... 6. Therefore, it all boils down to how sensitive are we? 7. In your situation, if you do sleep comfortably, then, there is no issue even if the mirror is placed at the head of the bed or anywhere in the bedroom. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  8. Dear Rich, It is prefered to go for yellow instead of black: 1. What you had mentioned: fire destroys or melts metal. This is not exactly a "bad thing". Because, the destructive cycle can also be considered as a "wealth" cycle. Thus when fire melts metal, this is considered good because it is producing wealth. For example if we look at another element: Wood destroys earth. We can imagine, that a tree has roots and it's roots go into the earth to get nourishment. 2. Why yellow? Yellow represents earth. When fire melts metal, metal is exhausted. And earth helps to nourish metal, producing more wealth. 3. This concept is similar to a Chinese ancient coin with a square hole in the middle often (6 coins tied with red string) where: Circular or round coin = metal element Copper or bronze coin = metal element Red string (tie a bundle of coins) = fire element Here, fire is used to control metal element. Or fire melts gold to produce wealth. And after doing so, the square hole at the centre (representing earth) helps to strength the metal. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  9. Dear Cheng Teik, Even if heavy knocking was done prior to Feb 2004, do check the following: 1. roof - is the roofing done on or after this period. 2. main door? does the main door remain or will it be changed after Feb 2004. 3. Is the main door or other fittings e.g. no window frame or window fitted especially at the frontage or the main door has not been fitted yet. 4. Has the kitchen being fully renovated and stove placed in? If any of the above remain uncompleted, then, it is safe to say that one's home will going to be a Period 8 home. Even if a home is a Period 7 home, it can still `fly' to Period 8 (but not the other way around). Doing some of the activities mentioned earlier in the forum. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  10. Dear Sybil, More importantly is the main entrance door. This door should (MUST) open inwards. On the practical side, there is frankly no issue with front gate opening out. This is often because of the constraint of limited interior space to open inwards: as it `hit' a parked car. Here, also many auto-gate opening devices are fitted to swing outwards - as this is most practical solution as mentioned above. We can say: It is nice to have it open inwards - provided it is practical. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  11. Dear Yak Heng, Frankly, it is better to go to a doctor or specialist for check-up rather than rely or depend on Ba Zi, in this case. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  12. Dear Annoja, In fact, in my opinion, it is best to leave it clear space given that the doors are close to the centrepoint or centre area of a home. This is to allow for air /qi to circulate within rooms. This is ok so long as one cannot see a direct path e.g. from the window area of a room, thru this two doors and to the back or another set of windows. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  13. Dear Jen, Thanks for the information. Yes, this is very common even locally in my country, also. It is not necessarily true all the time that such houses will have a wealth leak. As many of us are aware: 1. Under Flying Star Feng Shui, certain homes (based on facing direction) are said to have better qi flow then others. Thus, in one aspect, a home with a good facing direction does matter. 2. How suitable the house is to the breadwinner. This is another consideration. 3. Quantum Leap in Feng Shui Often, a home (on it's own) can be an average or good house. But, ulitmately, some homes can "suck wealth" from it's neighbours. Only then, can there be a quantum leap in Feng Shui. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  14. Dear Anon, Without the exact ba zi, it is difficult to determine this. However, this has more to do with the fortune telling or astrology. Often in ba zi, there is often a clash in the "House of Life" and Four main pillars : Year, Month, Day and Hour. The ba zi chart, youth, middle age etc..often in the very inauspicious. In ba zi, for example, a 10 year period can be classified as: auspicious wealth auspicous inauspicious inauspicious wealth Often, such bad news would occur under the last category: inauspicious wealth However, frankly it is best not to know all these since there is an element of " self-fulfilling prophecy" or "auto suggestion in it". Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Fiona, Yes, in some of the past illustrations (graphics) in this forum, the Hulu or bottle gourd is often used as a "cure" in Feng Shui. For example, for those who have read or seen series on the Journey to the West; or other Chinese fairy tale classics, a deity uses this bottle gourd to "suck" in bad elements into it. Much like the show: " I dream of genie ", popular in the 1970's where the genie lives in a bottle. The bottle gourd or Hulu, is thus often recommended to be placed between the toilet bowl and the wall to the bedroom. In addition, an alternative to using metal as a cure, the bottle gourd is sometimes placed inside a bedroom or hung above a bed, where there is a #5 or #2 (sickness) star. Here, the symbolic idea is to suck in sickness. Here, this cure is best used in confined spaces - where it is very impractical to place a windchime. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  16. Dear Jen, Frankly, if this is a small plant, and a one-off exercise, there is no issue in doing so. Unless, it is a prolonged event - which it is not. In my opinion, go ahead with it. There is one School of thought that says that one could place a metal piece or metal (object) between this area and the home.. Hmm... not necessary. Warmest Regards, Cecil P.S. So long as you D.I.Y. is OK:) Don't call the bulldozers in! This is really - not too good....
  17. Dear Fiona, In my opinion, symbollically one can change or replace 6 to 8 tiles. Yes, while doing so, try to allow light into the upper floor where the roof is. One can remove this ceiling board and replace this old one once this is done. No need to replace a new one. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  19. Dear Anon, The situation you faced is often very common. This is because one must understand: 1. The Tong Shu dates are often very general advise. Since it is not customised to the couple(s). 2. Many Feng Shui practitioners look into the couple's ba zi to see if the date is suitable for both (or not). 3. In addition, it is good to check whether the date is suitable for the parents and parents-in-law. If not, one way is to wear some colour(s) that is favourable to their ba zi. 4. Cannot interpret the gabbled posting "????". Most of the time, Chinese prefer not to get married during the 7th lunar month. Warmest Regards, Cecil Thanks. Edmond
  20. Dear Liau Yuan, Further to what I had mentioned; that the Heaven Map is just a static snapshot of what was "given luck". Please check out the "Holy Trinity of Luck". This is where, besides: education, philantropy and experience with external interations - most of this "escape clause comes under the Man or human luck factors; Another "escape clause" of our Heaven luck is our earth luck. Thus, some of us are already "down with luck" and staying in an unsuitable place or a place that brings us ill luck. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  21. Dear Liau Yuan, Yes, perhaps, you may not be aware that for Ba Zi, there are certain "escape" clauses found in it. The Chinese forefathers have anticipated your question, even before, all of us were born. For example of some of the escape clauses that can change one's life differently:- 1. Experience Two persons born at the same time in two different countries. For example, one person, could be "richly" brought up, with good parents and shelter. While the same person born in another proverty stricken country, would not enjoy the same kind of experience. 2. Education Another situation is that can affect us is our education. And this can "change" our Heaven map or what we are born with. 3. Kindness It is said that those who do good... or philantropy... can affect the Heaven map. 4. It is interesting to bring up the idea of twins. In the past, I had posted some caricature and even the write-up that twins need not necessarily share the same fate. As they have to interact with the world. For example, it is not like we have to tie both twins. Both twins can walk on the same road. But, we cannot control it if one of the twins fall into a hole or worse, knock down by a car. Try to search for past messages on this subject. Warmest Regards, Cecil The Arguably, we can state But how How can we ensure
  22. Dear Chee Foo, Please see below:- Since your flat is so high, you should take North as the facing direction. Frankly, for a standalone (landed property) home, it is much easier to fly over the new period. Since for the landed property, removing some of the roof-tiles and replacing them (plus cleaning the rest) would help. In my opinion, since we are just begining to change qi, it is better to do what is mentioned by you, perferably one or two months later rather than during this interim `cut-off' period. For an apartment, usually to play safe, one symbolic method is to paint the entire ceiling. This is symbolic of removing the roof of the "apartment". As lion dance may not be practical for an apartment. If you have done a search for the altar, e.g. ancestor altar should preferably: 1. share the same wall as the toilet 2. face the dinning table. And in your case, most likely face the preparation of food or doing of laundry etc... (There are more conditions to avoid in the placement of the altar). But, I would seriously agree that other than the "Kitchen god" one should not be placing ancestor altar in the kitchen area. " VERY SUAY" (very unlucky). As mentioned, most HDB apartments are small, and often, the laundry, washing / drying and kitchen food preparation, the toilet in the kitchen area, handling of knifes e.g. to cook etc... washing dishes etc.... In general, if one is not sure when to move the altar, it is best to first, find a suitable location, preferably in the living room facing e.g. the balcony area. Avoid, looking into the bedroom. Next, generally, the best date(s) to move it is on every 15th Lunar month or the 1st lunar month (full moon) day. Honestly, few if ever anyone would place their ancestor tablet in the kitchen. Anyway, hopefully, this will be in the past for you. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  23. Dear Fiona, Yes, it is OK to change the ground floor roof tiles. But, where possible, it should not leave the altar exposed as this is considered inauspicious (symbollically disrespectful to the "gods"). If the roof tiles on the second floor is dirty, than, this can be included as part of the means to try to fly to the next period. Warmest Regards, Cecil
  24. Dear Miroslav, Please refer to attachement. (Only available thru website forum login). For more information on how to chart an Eight House Chart, please review: http://www.geomancy.net/fs/house1.htm Warmest Regards, Cecil
  25. Dear Maria, From the Flying Star Compass School Point of view, it is best to locate the Water Star. For example, under Period 7, the water wealth position is where the Water Star = #7. For example, under Period 7, often we hear of "double 7's". And if you have gone thru some of the replies in this forum, many years back to last year, this is the best location for activating the water stat. Under Period 8, try to find out where the water star #8 is. If, one has the faintest notion what I am "talking" about, hmm.. it is best not to ask " What is Period 7, Period 8 or Flying Star. If so, there are several options: do get reliable FS practitioner to do it for you. But one you wants to D.I.Y. yourself, or thru the forum: Do this test: "pinch any of the fingers" If there is loose skin; means that, the fingers can go far in getting more exercise. What better way to do this is to use the SEARCH feature in the forum. Warmest Regards, Cecil
