Dear Caroline, It is best that you re-read my earlier posting and illustration. 1. If you look carefully at the outline of the school, it has a head and mouth, a body, several legs and a tail/fin. 2. In addition, if you look at the purple outline, it shows the mouth opened to `suck' qi from it's surroundings and from your unit. 3. In addition, I have shown other problem issues: 3.1 The canal outline is inauspicious in relation to your block. Here, it translates to lost opportunities, and result in financial entanglements or simply lost of wealth. 3.2 The other critical issue, which I did not fully touch on is that your unit is an `entrapped' unit. 4. A normal rectangular block as as block 517 has better Feng Shui than your block. 4.1 It so happens that your unit in relation to your block is sandwiched much like the U shaped inauspicious configuration. Where qi at your unit cannot either flow properly or move in a more even keel. In addition it is close to the lift landings where, there are also issues related to the movement of metal (lifts moving up and down). Frankly, the best FS practitioners may not help given that there is not only one major leak but, a series of leaks. At best, it can only help to harmonise the home or reduce leaks. But overall, the amount of lost opportunties and leaks will always be greater than in-flow of wealth. Therefore the success rate is stacked against one, from day one in such a senario. Dear Anon, Another form of metal can be e.g. 1. A copper ruler. Some FS practitioners equate e.g. a 1 foot copper ruler as equivalent to the 6 coins. 2. Another alternative is a pendulum clock. A real pendulum clock that has a brass counterweight that swings. But brands like "SEIKO" with imitation spray painted plasted swings that look like brass is suspect. 3. Some users have suggested a musical tick-tock pendulum. 4. Another alternative is: the early Chinese alarm clock that has a mechanical movement. This clocks have to be wind. And it gives a metallic tick-tock sound also. 5. Another alternative is the use of a water-fountain e.g. those that has a circular radiating ball at the centre. Dear Mr Ng, Thank you for your fax copy of your layout plan. Based purely (alone) on Shapes and Forms Feng Shui, there are several major leaks and sub-leaks:- 1. Major Leaks:- 1.1 Shared toilet ================= Your shared toilet is at the centrepoint or (centre-of-gravity). This toilet is also close to/next to the main entrance. 1.2 The entire interior layout ============================== Qi flow from the mouth of the house (main entrance) is not harmonious in relation to the master bedroom door and living room area. (Based on the blank layout plan). If a partition is used, it should screen the master bedroom door. But becareful of the use of a screen anywhere else in the home. 1.3 The master bedroom toilet ============================= This is another toilet which is in an inauspicious Shapes and Forms position. 1.4 Top down view of each block =============================== Unlike a rectangular point-block, each block has an awakward shape - and this affects the flow of qi coming into your unit. 1.5 External shapes and forms ============================= Inauspicious Road movement (symbolic of virtual water movement) vis-a-vis very low floor and a circular radiating feature (boomerang or disk effect) sending sha qi. 1.6 Water position ================== Based on a preliminary glimpse, you have to be extra careful if you are placing a water feature at the living room area (especially at NW direction - metal direction which could inadvertently exhaust good metal - making things to nought). On a Shapes and Forms analysis, water may not be compatible with a NW metal area. But, I am just guessing. But, perhaps, a Flying star analysis may be different - if, there is a #8 water star at the living room area. If so, water can be used to activate `wealth'. 2. Frankly, based on just the Shapes and Forms Feng Shui, there are more than 1 major leak. And often, based on my past experience, wealth is difficult to retain. 3. Dear Anon, 1. For a home, it is best to take note that the Period of the 20-Year Flying Star analysis does not change unless a major renovation has been done. 2. Major renovations include especially hacking of floor tiles and removal of the roof tiles. Some Feng Shui school of thought would suggest that symbolically, one may not technically need to remove the entire set of tiles. Just a few tiles. And some would include a combination of removal and cleaning or re-painting or re-coating the tiles. 3. For example, your 20-Year Period 7 Flying Star, will remain the same. 4. As I am very family with many locations, I know where this location is. But had also masked out key important roads and pointers - since you had indirectly indicated for some privacy. If one looks carefully, the School looks much like a reptile or (dragon) with an `open hungry mouth' facing Block 518. Unfortunately, the reptile looks rather under-nourished. And this is symbolic of the need to feed regulary. 4. In the attachment, I have also drawn an inauspicious zone from where the open hungry mouth wants to devour. 5. Since, water can be used (often in a landed property) to activate this water star - for wealth purposes. It would be even be excellent if #6 is present under this configuration. For example at a sector: water star is = #8 and base star is = #6 (big metal) With this two combination of 6, 8, water can be used to form a auspicious flow. However, under the Flying star chart one must be extra careful of a reverse in this position where: water star is not #8 but instead, mountain star is #8. And in the above equation; Mountain star = #8 base star = #6 this 8, 6 combination should not be allowed to have a water position at this sector. But at last, unfortunately, these people prey on our "GREED" to succeed and also portray a certain mystic of buying such commercial products". Dear Caroline, Further to what I had mentioned:- Make sure that the corner of the pond is not aimed at "vital areas" e.g. main door entrance. In fact, in general Feng Shui, many practitioners would recommend the placement of the water feature on the (left) side of the garden. Since the right side is said to bring with it extra-marital affairs. (Where one stands inside the house looking outwards). Contrary to popular belief, it should not be placed directly in-front of the main entrance. Or blocking it. Again IN GENERAL, many FS practitioners would favour the placement of a water position (in harmony with the compass direction.) Thus, many FS practitioners favour the placement of a water feature at "wood" locations such as the East and South-East (both wood locations). Or north. Many FS practitioners are not in favour of locations such as West or SW (since these are metal location) Both the domain of the white tiger as well as too much water here, is said to create an imbalance. Since the water, will draw out the metal. However, the more advanced is the use of Flying star Feng shui to locate sectors with favourable water star positions such as #6 (big metal). Here, or at such a sector, metal interacts with water to create wealth. If one is not sure, may have to check with competent practitioner on the used of the Flying star Feng Shui. Since, one of the key success of a Flying star chart is to locate elements at each sector and balance them. If the major renovations include things like hacking of living room floor tiles and repainting of the entire house, then your house would certainly had shifted to Period 7. Things like the above and removing the roof tiles or removing the main entrance door, would certainly change the period to Period 7. Although, this statement is pretty short - but, it generally sums up a "perfect" situation that most of us would like to have for our home/office etc...! Dear Anon, If one had lived in a home (intial years were ok), but later, not so favourable, would suggest that the time dimension of the home - has exert an inauspicious influence. In general, I have not looked at it from other concepts in Feng Shui other than Shapes and Forms. (Please refer to attachment) Under Shapes and Forms:- 1. In one of the rooms, the bed is facing the bedroom door. This is inauspicious: known as the coffin position. 2. And the two bedroom doors A and B face each other. Often, in some situations, when a child grows older, it may seem that both parties may become loggerheads with each other. One traditional Feng Shui method (hopefully it is not too late) is to place a red dot on the door knob key hole on each door. Here, when one closes both doors, there is a red eye that seems to "see each other " eye-to-eye. Often, a proper Flying Star Feng Shui can uncover, imbalances in the home. Dear Vikas, Apologies, I have to read between the lines, as I really do not like, going thru a chunk of information, that has too many values (computation values) for analysis. In Feng Shui, there are some misconceptions on the locations of North and South. Some would totally advise avoiding placing fire at the North. Since fire and water does not mix. Alternatively, at the South, some say cannot have water positions in this location. In my opinion, this is a wrong conception. In many cases, some Feng Shui practitioners have (even by mistake) allowed water to be at the south and fire at the north and vice versa. This interaction between the two, is contrary to the above perception. I believe, some Feng Shui experts have used this two combination to create an interaction. Where water - mixed with fire - result in a reaction which many of us can see - "smoke" or lets call it "Holy smoke" or vapours. And vapours or qi is favourable to Feng Shui. Recently, I had posted a few examples of why it is advantages to have a centrepoint location that is clear space or flux. Imagine this: when air comes into a window from any one of the points of the home, some of this air (we can call this high pressure zones) push air or some of it to the centrepoint. When air reaches this centrepoint, it creates a vacuum or low pressure. And vice versa. And at low pressure points, air is drawn out from other points in the home. Thus, continous high-low pressure points create an invisible vibrancy of air movement circulating within a home. (assuming that windows even if they are closed have gaps. Dear Ng, Please see below:- Here are some considerations: 1. A year ago, this person, e-mailed me, mentioning that he had his home Feng Shuied twice. He mentioned that this lady FS practitioner came to his home, scribbed some things (did a lousy job), and asked him to follow the instructions. Since, he had hired her, he felt that he had to follow her instructions. 2. Later, he hired, this Feng Shui practitioner. the user mentioned that he did his best, but after the Feng Shui, he faced more problems. 3. I asked him to scan or fax a layout and his landscape plan (street directory) view. I was so "shocked", because, his block and unit was attacked by two schools: one a primary school and another a secondary school. 4. The attack was in the form a the two schools shaped much like a pistol and a shotgun respectively. Here, this is known as `penetrating sha qi'. Cannot see but can be very bad for the people staying in the block. 5. This is because, after I had posted this findings in the forum, 4 more users, had wrote in to me! Telling me that they also faced the same situation! 6. Here, no amount of money or buying whatever figurines can help. And it is no point taking another look even by any other Feng Shui masters. 7. In the past, I had drawn an analogy: If one's house or apartment is equivalent to a second-hand 600 cc car; it is not possible to revv it up to a turbo charged v8 engine car! 8. The saying goes: "Pay for what one gets". Here, taking another view point: if one has a family of 8. How to squeeze into a mini-clubman car? Less we tie two members on the roof top and squeeze one family member into the trunk. 9. Here, more likely we have to buy an MPV vehicle already. 10. I am not saying that your home has this situation. But, no harm to check the exterior for threats. - To be safe or to rule out this situation. 11. Many local Feng Shui practitioners, in my opinion can be quite "academic". Some can draw perfect Flying Star charts, but, do not look beyond the 4 walls of a home. 12. Frankly, one can pathe a house in gold, but all else collapses outside the four walls - what is the use? 13. Within the interior, the few things one can do are: 13.1 Fix as many leaks as possible. 13.2 Hopefully, the two FS `masters' did not bombard your home with too many worthless figurines, wind chimes etc... In a small home such as a HDB apartment, things if all else can get even worse! Too many clutter, is not going to help. 13.3 In my opinion, it is not a matter of whether one can consult another practitioner but rather: "Is it cost effective?" Here, one has already forked out quite a tidy sum paying both. 13.4 And, as mentioned above, realistically, the key success of Feng Shui is to firstly, see if we, humans can harmonise with the home. Especially in the area of health. 13.5 But if one aims to get instant wealth after a Feng Shui audit - think again! This is because, an apartment or flat has much influence coming from the Exterior! Of the home. 14. Or the exterior plays the most important consideration! A `lousy' exterior or lousy shapes and forms -- means, no matter what, one cannot squeeze out more than what the house can or cannot give us. 15. Thus, often we hear the words : Location, location, location. 16. The rich are different: They often have the means to get choicest locations/ landed property etc... And for many, not only are their homes good; What this means is that a home should not only have good or favourable Feng Shui, but it also has the ability to `suck' wealth from it's surroundings or neighbours! Here, let the neighbours work hard and one sits there to collect the `spoils'. This is known as "Quantum Leap" in Feng Shui. And few can afford this! Or by luck. Under the Practise of Water Feng Shui, the best success is either thru the identification of a location that favours a water position or water star position. And this can only be looked at thru the proper use of Flying Star Feng Shui. The other consideration is thru Shapes and Forms Feng Shui. As to the "Water-Tiger element" - frankly, this is even proper Ba zi analysis. Under proper Ba zi analysis, one should be able to identify to the lowest common denominator: The Five elements concept. For example, if you had mentioned: I am a strong water or weak water or strong earth or weak earth. This makes more sense. The term `water-tiger' especially based only on the year of birth - is too superficial to be of any use. More importantly, a water position can be a double edged sword: If placed wrongly, bring more problems. Or worse, if it is not favourable to one's element, this is really bad. Arowana or no arowana. Gold, red or silver arowana, does not matter. Most likely, (I do not like to sound cruel) may end up on the dinner table. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Caroline, In Feng Shui, there are two distinct advantages of using water:- 1. For a landed property, water at the frontage - would imply that there is `clear space' (and unobstructed) view. 2. The other key success of water is if it is as vibrant as a waterfall. Here, the water from this waterfall frictions with the air to create negative ions. Therefore, if we are talking about water positions, the above senarios are certainly, considered as "key success" for placement of a water position. 3. For the interior of the home, it can be a double-edged sword. 4. This is because, on my opinion, and from various other practitioners - wrong placement of water may result in either or combination of both marital problems, finance problems. 5. There are three major levels of analysis or "safe-guards". 5.1 Number 1: It is good that you check what element both you and your spouse is. For a strong earth person, it is OK to have a water position. But do take note that it is not the best solution. As a strong earth person, the best element that can help the strong earth person is still metal element, first. Only when metal has increased or metal `absorbs' the earth, then it becomes out of balance, and water can be used. Otherwise, water is not as valuable to the strong earth person. For a strong fire person, earth is still the best element to help the strong fire person. Thus, given the relationship, it is still OK to have a combination of metal and water to help both of you. 5.2 Often, a water position is placed at a location, `suitable' under Shapes and Forms. Most of us do so by our personal `feel' or six-sense. 5.3 Another 'safe-guard' is to use/apply the Flying Star Feng Shui to see whether a location can `sustain' a water position or not. Recently, there is a situtation, where I was called upon to check on a home. The owner, was plagued with lots of "scandals, legal entanglements". And it was found that that sector that they had placed a large fish tank (top and bottom) has bad #4 bad wood and it was combined with #1 and #4 and the interpretation of this two combination of stars spell - legal entanglements, scandals etc.. Here, there is already #1 water element and #4 bad wood. And, in addition, a fish tank with water was placed at the position to further fuel this situation. I can only roughly indicate: 2.1 Often, many FS practitioners ask their clients to locate a water position close to the main door area (often 1 metre away) - somewhere around this area. As this is just a general guideline. 2.2 For Flying Star period 7, there are many permutations of how west sector behaves under different directions of Period 7. Dear Maggie, 1. Yes, what you had described is a Chinese cultural belief or taboo. 2. And, many Chinese fear of repercussions such as not only complications but - the concern of a miscarriage. 3. This is especially so for the bed. For example, once pregnant, the Chinese believe that one must not shift or relocate the bed (on which the pregnant person sleeps on). 4. Even if one needs to move house; for example, NO CHOICE because they had sold the house before delivery, the pregnant person must avoid seeing the event i.e. moving her bed etc.... 5. As for the renovations in the kitchen, the stove is a major concern also. And where possible try not to remove the stove etc... 6. In fact, better safe than sorry. When pregnant, more importantly, the bed - should not be moved. As a last resort, some have bought new beds. 7. For example, a couple could be staying in their parents home prior to moving to their own. Here, either the pregnant person, stays in this house until she gives birth and for the 1st month after giving birth. 8. Alternatively, she does not participate or see any of the move of furniture to the new home. Alternatively she buys a new bed for her new home. And (do not see it installed). And move over. 9. Some other interesting points: 9.1. Do you know that traditionally the Chinese consider that when one first come out of the world he/she is already 1 year old! 9.2 This is because, the first 9 months in the womb is considered. Thus, when we check our birthday, in the western calendar, it could be "I am 5 years old". But traditionally the Chinese could say that their child is "6 years old". 9.3 Note: this does not affect the way the Chinese calculate ba zi. They still caculate based on the Lunar Calendar system. But for the Hong Kongers often, for convenience, they use the Hsia Li. 10. The Chinese couple often celebrates the 1st month after the child is born by giving away e.g. red eggs, and cakes. 11. This is because, the 1st month is very important and if a child pass thru this 1st month, hopefully, there is no issue on health etc... 12.
