Directly, trees not only provide shade but sustains an ecocosm of life of insects and other creatures especially birds. Landscaping in a condominium, landed property, surrounding greens and plants in common areas of government housing estates add to an overall better bigger picture of Macro Feng Shui. Singapore's 10 most common trees according to National Parks Board are as follow:- 1. Angsana 2. Sea Apple 3. Sea Almond 4. Trumpet Tree 5. Tembusu 6. Saga 7. Rain Tree 8. Yellow Flame 9. Senegal Mahogony 10. Broad-Leaf Mahogony

1. Apologies, the photos are not that clear. But I hope you can understand the concept, here. 2. For the Chinese, it is considered inauspicious to hang a row of three-pendant lights in a straight line. 3. This is especially so, if it can be seen immediately when one come into a home. 4. For example, often may condos have a short entrance and the dining table is in full view of it. Here, many Chinese avoid hanging a string of three-pendant lights. 5. Why is this so? The three-pendant light is symbolic of three joss-stickers that we (Chinese) pray - or give respect to the dead at a Chinese wake (funeral parlour). 6. No worries, if we do have a row of three-straight pendant lights; then, we can follow the examples under attachments: CASCADING-LIGHTS.JPG AND CASCADING-LIGHTS1.JPG 6.1. Here, we just either:- 6.1.1. Shorten slightly the wires holding the middle pendant light: refer to cascading-lights.jpg or 6.1.2. Stagger the wires of each of the three pendant lights: refer to cascading-lights1.jpg 6.2. In this way, we don't need to totally replace an existing three pendant lights. Note: Apologies again, the pictures may not be that clear. As there is some lights turned on-behind one of the pendand lights and the image is shaky... (courtesy of 1st gen Ipod 3G)

Asians are familiar with this plant. As it's essence is used to flavour Nonya cakes and used in many deserts and there is even a pandan cake. Some Singapore Taxi drivers and even Singaporeans place a bunch of this pandan plant in their car. To them, it is believed that cockroaches dislike this plant and thus is used as a natural method of getting rid of roaches in a home or car. To many from overseas, they may find this smell as pungent as smelling the local durian fruit. The family name of this plant is: Pandanaceae and it's common name is called fragrance pandan. This plant is relatively easy to grown in a home. And is also one of the all time favourites of households or Singapore flat "gardeners". Synonym: P. odorus, P. amaryllifolius Origin of this plant is: South East Asia.

Money Plant has to be one of Singapore citizen's all time favourites! As the leaves are broad and looks like a heart. It can be grown in a bowl of water and rocks (but becareful of mosquito eggs). When grown in a pot, it is a climber or vine. And it can climb walls. And can grow quite large especially if it is grown on the grown. However, if you were to utter these words "Hey! Why are you growing Devil's Ivy" No body would believe this other name. Money Plant belongs to the Araceae family. Origin: Solomon Islands.... If you do visit Solomon Islands... remember... $$$ plant comes from there

Bougainvillea garden plants are very hardy, and easy to grow. In the past, it is often grown at landed property compounds especially at "vulnerable" corner areas" where a would be robber could have climbed into the home thru such a corner. For example, corner landed property, make full use of the "feature" of this plant i.e. depending on it's species, it either has tough torns or several species with smaller - softer torns. However, it's branches requires regular maintenance e.g. every 2 to 3 months, best to trim it. In Singapore, the most pronounced area is the "emergency" run-way along the East Coast Highway (ECP) towards the airport. We can see many potted bougainvillea plants. And along the side of the road. This species has no less than 31 different varieties and two types of leaves. The flowers range from Singapore white to Chili Red; purple, yellow, scarlet etc...

1. Recently, just a month ago, around 2am in the morning, most likely a drunkard drove a BMW 5 series into a canal. 2. Take a look at the attachments to this message. 3. The street directory map is as follows:- http://www.streetdirectory.com/asia_travel/travel/travel_id_18422/travel_site_1/ Lower down on the map, one can see Yio Chu Kang Road and Gerald Drive. Gerald Drive from Yio Chu Kang Road curves to the left and it is a straight stretch of road until you notice that the canal slants to NE direction. This is where the BMW drove straight thru and into the canal. (Note: Singapore is right-hand drive). Side-track... Although there is a pedestrain bridge, I feel that the protective railings is not adequate at this turning.. thus.. in my opinion, it is a major reason why the BWM "flew" down into the canal. If this the US; we hear of accidents caused by wrongful placement of say street-lamps. Where thru "no fault" of the US driver, the street-lamp has caused an accident. But in Singapore, you are "gulity" in most likely being drunk and flying the ride into the canal! Take alook at the photos. Sorry the resolution is poor. Have since updated my car cams to higher resolution.. but too lazy to remove the files for use so use some of the old resources... If there is a home where if you imagine the BMW 5 flew into... it is not a joke at 2am in the morning and most likely, family members are in the home: In the US, most likely the homes are made of wood. In Singapore, the EURNCAP 5 star BMW 5 would crumple and cause the death of the drive... as "our" homes are made of cement and concrete and bricks...

My comments are as follows:- 1. Ideally, a house at a T-junction, should not have openings be it a window, direclty looking towards, the gate - to the road. If so, this is considered very bad Feng Shui. 2. Wooden gate should e.g. have overlapping e.g. wooden panels - do note that it can still let "air" in but physically one cannot direclty see it. This year, I had posted a picture of a home that is at this "T-junction" and this home actually belongs to a doctor. 3. Some "T-junctions" or connecting roads to the T-junctions are "busy" to very-busy. While others are less busy.. Of course, least busiest are much better than busy or fast moving "roads". 4. Look at it this way, from a practical point of view; many one off accidents do occur at main roads and where roads suddenly take a turn. For example:- This link:- http://www.streetdirectory.com/asia_travel/travel/travel_id_1/travel_site_65404/ Many years back, Montessori for Children (please see attachment) next to the blue target; throughout the years, the bungalow there had seen many especially "drunk" drivers that plow thru towards the home. And if the openings are in a straight row, imagine if a fast car - could literally plow thru into the inner sanctum of the home... 5. Although this is not a "T-junction"; once a while we do get stories of car(s) plowing towards such a home. 5.1 This is why, today no one wants to stay in this former home : now Montessori for Children. As it is a school; it will not be affected by drunkards smashing into this "home" - as after office or school hours, no one is in this school. As drunkards only venture after 12pm or later.... 5.2 Thus in the above example, government has played a part in installing protective railings along Mountbatten road.. In the past, it was not that way. This example is about "reckless" endangerment of life - in a way.. some form of bad Feng Shui. The cure does not lie so much as to the direct sha qi but rather.. how do we avoid a drunkard.. plowing his/her ride direclty into a home. 7. Yes, in a way, some of these "T-junction" homes can have their bad Feng Shui REDUCED especially thru the facade of the building i.e. reposition of main door, fencing made of e.g. red bricks etc.... William L. wrote: If I am looking at a landed house that is directly looking outwards from the living to the gate to the road (ie, looking at a T-junction), can this bad fengshui be eliminated or is it just to reduce the very bad fengshui to just not-so-bad/ok (but not good) fengshui?

It should be based on the real direction one is facing. Please see attached illustration. Did you notice the work table? This person's best work directions are: South and East. (SE and North) are acceptable directions. Thususe a compass and check where is the north compass point. And then best to sit facing the good direction as shown in the example for an East group person. Anonymous wrote: I am bit confused on deciding on the best work position. Should I take my office as the entrance per Bagua or it has to be based on the real direction it is being faced?

1. Just for info, if one is staying in a landed property; this "Vertical" Flying Star analysis report does not apply. 2. Simply fill in all the relevant fills - so long as all the fields are properly filled in i.e. the #xx - xx and select the Period, and click the button....

As I can only comment on the Flying Star: Period 7: NW3 = have relatively small luck as the current prosperity water star #8 is "trapped" in the middle of the home. Since no two homes are similar; it also greatly depends on the external Shapes and Forms Feng Shui - surroundings, the site, the plot of land and building. And even how rain water flows out of the home are equally critical. Thus, to be fair, your question is just like getting a blind person to lead another blind person. Frankly, some homes are better or even worse-off! I recalled, especially from 2002 onwards; many cases that involves stayed-in and checking on Feng Shui are those belonging especially to the North facing and NW facing homes / apartment. Apparently, as the Period 8, qi came into being.. these homes were greatly affected by timely stars = Flying Stars.

1. Further to what I had mentioned earlier; where an element can be associated with types of ailments:- 2. For example zero water element suggests: issues with sex organs. And if one equally has too much of an element, it creates an imbalance. 3. In this sample, it is taken from the Sample Luck Periods.pdf report. 4. Every 10 years, the balance of our elements may change. 5. For examle, this "Sample person - Male", his balance of element changes evey 10 years. See attachment..

1. Please refer to attachments. For this Sample Male person:- Ba Zi Expert Review Summary [1.] Sample Male, Male - 19 Mar 1970 at 1.00 p.m. to 2.59 p.m. Lunar Calender: 1970, 2nd month, 12 day Birth Element: Strong Earth Favourable Element: Metal (white/gold), Wood (green/brown), Water (blue/black/gray) Unfavourable Element: Fire (red), Earth (yellow) Wealth Element: Water (blue/black/gray) Mariola S. wrote: Dear Masters, I have a question concerning health. I read on you page that imbalance of personal element can lead to problems with particular body problems. I would like to know is there any feng shui / personal elemant explanation for permanent constipation? The case concerns a weak metal person. Thank you for your help and advice Mariola It is not just whether one is say a Strong Earth person. Or in your case a weak metal person. But rather, in this example, Sample Male person is zero water element. This often signify possible Health related problems to the Kidney and Sex Organ. Your Five Element Breakdown 0 Weak Water 2 Strongest Wood 4 Strong Fire 4 Extremely Weak Earth 2 Weakest Metal 0% 29% 47% 11% 11% This tells me that you are a Strong Earth because of too much of Fire (47%). Thus, influencing the element strength of the other five element elements. The percentage of each element is considered after considering the seasonal strength and the number of that element present. Thus, your favourable elements are Metal (11%) and Wood (29%) Elements. Water (0%) is also your favourable wealth element. Based on the percentage of the Five Element of each of your favourable element. You should attempt to enhance the favourable element with least percentage, followed by the favourable element with the next lowest percentage. As Strong Earth, your favourable elements are Metal (11%) / Wood (29%) / Water (0%). Water (0%) is your most favourable element. Metal (11%) is your next favourable element. Wood (29%) is your least favourable element. As you have sufficient amount of Wood, you will benefit more by having more of your other favourable elements. Your unfavourable elements are Fire (47%) / Earth (11%) . Fire (47%) is your most unfavourable element. As you have too much of Fire, it is best to avoid it having too much more. Earth (11%) is your least unfavourable element. You have a very unbalanced Five Element distribution. Often, this produces signs of a person with several possible health problems. You have 0% Water element. This often signify possible Health related problems to the Kidney and Sex Organ. The ideal balance of each element is generally 20% of each element. However, it is difficult to achieve exactly 20% of each element. This is because it is difficult to know exactly how much of each element you have at any point in time. So as long as you have more of your favourable elements, you will improve your balance and harmony. Extract from the report: B. Health As you have a slightly unbalanced chart, it does often mean that you do have to take extra caution about your health. This is because most people with too little or too much of an element often shows signs of health issues. In your case, you have to be extra careful about health issues originating from:- Kidney and Sex Organ, due to 0% Water element. However, as long as you maintain a health lifestyle (ie exercise and taking care of what you eat), you can still minimise any Health Issues from occurring. B1. Possible Health Issues Here are the period which relate to your health. Be careful of during the years that are in marked in red or green:- Minor Yearly Health Issues in [1977*] (1979*) (1980) (1983) Minor Yearly Health Issues in [1987] (1989*) (1990*) (1993**) Minor Yearly Health Issues in [1997*] (1999) (2000**) (2003*) Minor Yearly Health Issues in [2007] (2009*) (2010) (2013*) Minor Yearly Health Issues in [2017**] (2019) (2020*) (2023) Minor Yearly Health Issues in [2027*] (2029**) (2030*) (2033*) Minor Yearly Health Issues in [2037*] (2039*) (2040) (2043) Major Health Issues [2046-2055], Especially in [2047] (2049*) (2050*) (2053**) NOTE: 1. Year marked in red colour or YEAR** is a very inauspicious year, so expect adverse effect on your health. 2. Year marked in green colour or YEAR* is average year, so must be extra careful else you get adverse effect on your health. 3. Year in bracket [YEAR] is most Health Issues, while Year in (YEAR) is considered least possible impact on your health. Please refer to Sample Male Luck Periods Report. Every 10 years, one's Five Element Balance may change... Changes in your Five Element Balance for 26 - 35 (1996 - 2005) You are a Strong Earth. Generally, you will need more Metal and Wood, while avoiding any Fire or Earth. In order to be effective, you should know how the current 10-year luck period affects your original five element distribution. So for this 10-year period you should fine tune your favourable elements as follows:- Favourable to you Your favourable element Metal (5%) and Wood (50%). You will need more Metal (5%) than compared to Wood (50%) to improve the luck for this period. Staying in a suitable House Element - Your luck will further be improved if you are staying in a house facing direction which represents Metal Having a suitable career - Metal element career such as Accountancy, Banking, Investment, etc. Having more favourable colours - You can further boost your luck by ensuring your bedroom decor/car colour/dressing are in white/gold (Metal element). Unfavourable to you While, your unfavourable elements are Fire (23%) and Earth (5%) You will to avoid Fire (23%) more than Earth (5%) to improve the luck for this period. Avoid staying in an unsuitable House Element - Your luck will further be reduced if you are staying in a house facing South direction which represents Fire Avoid an unsuitable career - Earth element career such as Marketing, Sales, Fashion, etc, will make this period less auspicious for you. Avoid unfavourable colours - Should ensure you avoid bedroom decor/car colour/dressing are in red (Fire element). Yes, the House Number report is also relevant under Period 8. For example, please see attachment. You need to use the input select box to select 2004-2023. This illustration shows it.... Libby I. wrote: Plus the house number thing really caught my attention, I'd like a house with an auspicious number but is the house number report relevant for the 8th period? Frankly, since no two homes are the same, one has to apply as much the various concepts that works for most people, most of the time.

#9 is considered as the Future prosperity star. But #9 = fire element. And under the Productive Sequence of the Five Elements concept; fire produces earth. (#5 is strong earth and #2 is weak earth). Thus, when combined together:- #9 with #5 with #5 or #9 with #5 with #2, spells trouble. Reference: http://talk.geomancy.net Mark T. wrote: Dear cecil, Thank you for your explanation. However, on your point no 1, you said i have to be aware of combination with 5, 2 or 9. Why 9? Isn't that a good star? My 5 this year flew to the laundry area, therefore, low activity. My 3 sits on the South side of a room which has been a wardrobe. The 2 goes to the NE, near the balcony, with only the Fish Tank and 2 gold fish residing there. Most activity is on the center, bedroom and the east where my study desk is.

1. Frankly, Geomancy is not a regulated "profession". In fact, in the past; it cannot be equated to professions like Accounting, Law or Engineering. 2. Today, this Geomany profession will never be equated to real professional bodies. 3. Many years back, especially in the 1970's to 1980's and in-fact as you had mentioned: Jeremy T. wrote: I heard from some mentioning never put the fish tank in the southern walls sector as it represents fire. 3.1. Many Geomancers still practise what we call it "kindergarten" Feng Shui. Where: North = water element. South = fire element. And they many have been practising this kind of kiddies Feng Shui, today! 3.2. In my opinion, for those seeking out a Geomancer, and if the geomancer mentions = South is fire thus avoid a water position, there than - better think "thrice" before enaging the geomancer. 3. In the past, I was shocked to hear that : Since Singapore is at the South, we should not have water at all! My Gosh! No wonder, in the past, water for filtering has to be piped to Singapore! Wow! 4. Many years back, an Indian doctor wrote to this forum for advice. He wanted to apply "learned" forum of Feng Shui. For example, in the past one of the most famous works is the "Gray's anatomy" showing all details of our human body. 5. Feng Shui depends very much on the practitioner. As we all know, our heart is located precisely at a location, our lungs are where it is. Our heart have specific arteries and pumps. 6. Check out Feng Shui with different practitioners and one can even get 10 different answers! One Geomancer may say that one's heart is where your stomach is. Another may say that it is at one's liver location etc... 7. How did all the Great Feng Shui Masters of the Past Learn & Practise their Feng Shui? 1. All Great Feng Shui Masters of the past, are all humans, like you and me! 2. In the past, many Feng Shui Masters learn Feng Shui from various books and also through their experience. 3. What is common amongst all the Greatest Feng Shui Masters was that they practice Feng Shui with an open mind, willing to learn and their key success factor is to apply what they felt could work most of the time and discard those theories or concepts that don't work most of the time. 8. All the Classical works on Feng Shui has never used products such as crystals or many of the commercial products found today! In fact, our grand-parents time, crystals were not even invented, then! Feng Shui is about our earth luck and how best we can harmonise ourselves to our environment. Thus many of the products have no magical properties. And the sellings are only trying to enrich themselves since these products are highly marked-up with very high profits to be made. 9. In "silly" Singapore;in my opinion, 8 out of 10 Geomancers are con artists.. who prey on one's greed; as a result enriching themselves by conning people into buying useless in the name of Feng Shui products. 10. Caveat Emptor - let the buyer beware! 11. Not all Geomancy companies or personalities are equal. 12. In fact, just recently, one of my clients, said that they had previously engaged a geomancer. The geomancer came to their home (one visit only) scribbled on a piece of layout and was no longer contactable!I kept this ineligible layout plan. As a reminder never to provide such a service! (It is not professonal to post it in the forum - just use your imagination...) http://wiki.geomancy.net/wiki/Image:Greatest-fs-masters.gif

1. In my opinion, the strongest influence are "family pressures". In the past, it could be the matriarch of the family - the eldest family member e.g. the grand mother or the great grand mother who has the final say. 2. Thus if the hierachy top down says No, it means totally NO! 3. In modern times; so long as both immediate families understand - reasonable explanation; and accept it, then go ahead... with it. 4. The reason why there is no issue with marriage in most years other than preferences such as dislike of Tiger year etc... is that one should select good dates or auspicious dates. 5. Thus, look at it this year, even if we are in a Tiger year;as thereare different days for different animal signs. For example, today can be aday for the goat, thusit does not mean that every day under theTiger sign is a tiger day. Anonymous wrote: Hi Master Cecil/Robert, My fiancee and I (both born in Year of Goat) are considering marriage in the Year of the Tiger. There has been hearsay that one should avoid marriage in Year of Tiger if possible. Please share with me your advice. Thank you.

In 1631, Shah Jahan of the Mughal empire was griefstricken after his thrid wife Mumtaz Mahal, died during the birth of their fourteenth child, Gauhara Begum. Construction of the Taj Mahal began in 1632, one year after her death. Themain mausoleum was completed in 1648 and the surrounding buildings and garden with the reflecting pool were finished five years later. This is one of the first condo, that highlights that it has reflecting pools. (By the way) the pools are too shallow even for babies or kiddies to wade in. More likely, it is just nice for froggies... Other famous examples of reflecting pool:-http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reflecting_pool

Ferraria Park Condo, recently TOP this year (2009). There are concerns of high slope at Blocks 8, 10, 12, 14 and 16 with stacks facing this high slope (wall) especially for lower units or ground floor units. In my opinion, there is sufficient space between the high wall (which is more than 100 metres between the Personal Enclosed Space of each of the ground floor units to the wall. Thus, there is sufficent "collection" of qi flow. The only drawback is that cars entering the condo has to pass thru these units to get in (and out) of the car park. They will most likely turn the road into a "one way" allowing vehicles to enter the basement and exit on the opposite side.

Generally, one has to be on the cautious side: 1. Be aware of where the #5's are. (or any combinations of #5 with #2 with #9) 2. The three "problematic" stars are #5 , #2 and #3. Especially so if the month stars are within those sectors. 3. Of course, you can tap the good #8's (Mountain or Water stars) depending on which sector(s) they are under.

1. What I had mentioned earlier is based on Shapes and Forms Feng Shui. And Flying Star is totally different area i.e. I am relating it to the concept of the "White" tiger at West of the plot of land. 2. And the above concept is distinct from the Flying Star Feng Shui. Bear in mind that : It is not like changing the "face" or facing direction and Para 1, disappears totally or it will go away.

1. For sure, this home is not at a "T" Junction. 2. It depends on whether it is a Period 6, 7 or 8 home. And many other factors...
