  1. These are some considerations: 1. Chinese has it's own palmistry. And often we look at the whole picture and try to figure out an entire hand and categorise it to one of the five elements. 2. Thus a hand with pointed fingers and pointy hands is considered as a fire element. 2.1. While a squarish /rectangularish hand is considered as an earth element etc... 3. My website: http://palmistry.net has some interesting information on the hand. 3.1. In the past, the most respected doctors examined hands and colours etc ... thus this resulted in several well known doctors who were well versed in hand reading. As one of the key elements is that it can tell the health of a person. By looking at the colour (blood flow) and even the growth of finger nails. 4. In Chinese acupuncture, different fingers are associated with different body organs. If you are deeply or seriously into it than you may have to look at sites that specialise in acupuncture. 5. Otherwise, what you mentioned is related more to the India concept of each finger belonging to one of (YOUR) elements. 5.1. For example: in your Indian system: the thumb is suppose to represent the fire element. While the Index finger belongs to the "AIR" element. In Chinese five elements concept there is no element as in "AIR". While the third finger in your system is considered as the Earth element. 5.2. And your little pinkie or little finger is the water element. Although I am well versed in many areas, I choose not to comment on areas not within my specialty. I know it is there, but perhaps, not enough to discuss further on them. 6. Thus frankly, if you need more answers to your Indian system, then you may have to search elsewhere. As the key ingredient of the Chinese system is based on the Five Elements concept. While your system has some elements similar, but some are not directly in our vocab. Thus difficult to link the two. 6.1. For example,I cannot simply link two different systems one from the "West" (India) and one from the "East" (China). Maybe, Buddhism is different as it was brought from the West (India) to the East (China). But along some line, we (India and China) had evolved somewhat differently. Even though there is the Vastu principles.
  2. Further to what I had mentioned:- 1. Today, it is still in practise that as a guideline, and on an individual basis, some consider their favourable colours and apply it to e.g. the colour of their vehicle (car). Thus, if one's so called "lucky" or favourable colour is water then some might choose a blue, black or grey car. 2. It is still common for some to want to TRY to wear their favourable colours whenever they can. 3. Other than the above, in modern times, it is viewed in conjunction with Feng Shui : in particular applied TOGETHER with flying star Feng Shui to determine e.g. the best colour for a bedroom or office. 3.1. Thus, in the attachment, I have highlighted in YELLOW, that one's so called lucky colours is applied in a larger area and not isolated at the individual level.
  3. "I joined the police force because I was told my luck colour is BLUE". But, I really don't like to be a policeman!. Everyday, I irk at waking up the next morning to go to work...
  4. For those who have watched Chinese martial arts movies: 1. Always the hero started off as an under-dog. 2. In many instances, the hero either gets beaten up or tries to seek revenge for the loss of his loved one(s). 3. Initially, the hero only has basic skills. 4. And as time progresses, the hero gets to learn more skills. 5. The article below shows the practical approach before one can claim that something can bring him or her LUCK:- http://wiki.geomancy.net/wiki/A_Practical_Approach_to_Feng_Shui%2C_Today
  5. These are some considerations: 1. In general, if this was the 1970's and even towards 1980's. 2. Such "discovery" made by you sounds impressive. 3. It is just like "X-ray" was newly discovered and drawing a parallel; there was such thing as a "wow" factor. The ability to look at a hazy monotone chart of one's rip cage: to see if the lungs are "clear". 4. Let's put it this way. Today is what? 2013? 5. And for many years, there are newer inventions like the MRI scanning. Of which, I had added such an example in this url: Feng Shui Triage 6. Thus, I had mentioned numerous times: the Holy Trinity of Luck: Heaven, Earth and Human luck. 7. And it is not so simplistic as what you may think. There are more than what meets the eye. 8. Even what you had quoted, is just the tip of the ice-berg. 8.1. For example, for the (some who seek advice from a geomancer) Chinese, we even go the extend of for new born select a name after looking at the ba zi of the child. 8.2. In modern times, a geomancer don't go around and advice a "victim" to go wear jewellery just because the person lack metal element. Or certify that the person is not fit to be in the "infantry" as he is not suppose to wear green colour etc.... 9. As mentioned above, if you were to bring out your statement, it sounds great in the 1970s to 1980s. But, today, the level is close to or akin to using only X-ray technology. Which is no longer that impressive nor as effective as say the equivalent of an MRI scan.... 10. In simple terms... what you mentioned is not a mother of all cures or enhancements. Not in modern times.
  6. You can read more about your individual forecast under this url: http://www.geomancy.net/resources/yearly-forecast/fortunes-2013.htm
  7. Frankly, in addition to what you had mentioned, Shapes and Forms Feng Shui need to be looked at; as it is difficult to comprehend just from written text. Even simple thing like how large is the balcony; affected by direct afternoon sun etc... For example, if the water feature is constantly or daily affected by direct (west sun) then there is high evaporation rate. Here, if the balcony does not have a water tap; in no time: the person may become the hunchback of Notre Dame. Else, with high evaporation, some don't have the perserverance to main the water feature as a result water no longer flows - all dried up. In addition, the moisture can flow into that room with the balcony. And such a water feature has dirty water (moisture) that can flow into the room and also increase it's humidity. Furthermore, high sun light may mean algae growth in the "contaminated water feature". If you have a water feature in the garden at SW is fine or OK. As often there is space separating you from this water feature. And sometimes, some may find the water feature too noisy especially if the balcony is beside a (master) bedroom. Often, a parallel, can be drawn to someone wanting to place a fish tank for the sake of Feng Shui. But this is different if one is a fish lover. The later maintains a fish tank willingly. While the earlier, forced to maintain or most likely may end up considering it a CHORE to maintain a water position.

  9. Frankly, there is no such thing as writing one liner and your answer(s) spring into action. Like all other disiciplines: you have to do or get someone to do it for you:- Feng Shui Triage Proper trouble-shooting is required. In life, you have to go through a triage else might as well throw a dice or flip a coin.

  16. Netherlands has it's famous wooden shoes. Traditionally, Chinese have their red cogs which are useful to be worn especially in wet areas. As the height of these cogs offer much protection from wet and soggy floors. These red cogs were once very popular in Singapore during the 1930s right up to the 1970s. Somehow, few buy these or have little knowledge of them. Especially with the advent of cheap PVC sandals. One could say that this is a forerunner of the "crocodile branded" light weight shoes of today...

  19. At one of the Ang Mo Kio neighbourhood, there is an unusual shop sign. Most likely the owner of this reflexology shop is only targeting locals. And not only locals but specifically those that know what it means. Kaki-lang (hokkien) simply means: "Own people or own family"...

  25. These are some considerations: You wrote: our main door opens to a terrace, more like a gazebo. looking at the floor plan, it is a square that protrudes from the middle section of the rectangular house. this area is roofed, i am quite confused as to treating this area a part of the house or exclude it in laying out the nine areas (as this would leave missing areas in the either side of it.) 1. Frankly words alone can never fully explain exactly where are or how much are the missing corners or even protrusions. Sometimes a sketch or an exact layout gives a better picture. On the premise that a picture tells what a thousand words can't. 2. In my opinion, I agree if you intend to plot a nine grid; a home that is mostly rectangular and no major missing corners or protrusions are fine or ok. 3. But if you are trying to fit a home into a nine grid but find too may parts of all parts; then it is time for you to seriously consider applying a PIE chart (method). As often, most professional geomancers use a PIE chart. 3.1. As if one has obtained sufficient experience, one can usually or easily apply a PIE chart to almost any layout. 4. Thus no point in trying to scratch one's head trying to fit a layout into the proper nine-grid.
