Dear Susan, It is best that you do not include the non-living areas such as a garage when determining the rectangle of the house. The sink and windows of the garage should also be discounted since it belongs to this area. If one is having a problem, try to use the 2nd storey outline to determine the "rectangle" outline of your home. Here, you would have already determined the centre-point of the home. And use this to match the lower floor - while "cutting" out the excess fat (garage area). The idea of the centrepoint is to find the "centre" of gravity in a home. Dear Anon, Based on what you had described, this is not a "real definition" of such a leak. For this leak, it has to be a straight path from the main entrance door directlytowards the back or an opening. What you had described is thus a 90 degree turn from the main entrance door. Thus is not the same as above. It is best that you check for other "leaks" in the home, instead. Dear Hoa, Especially, if only the glass has been changed, but not the frame holding it up, should not change the house period. Usually, additional things like removing the roof or changing the main doors etc... have to be reviewed to determine further if a change has occured or not. Dear Anon, No, generally, L Box is usually made up of "light materials" like gypsum board. And close to flat. Unlike a concentrated beam that often needs to support a structure. Thus, in my opinion, it is just a perception, then a real issue. For example, some say that a double-decker bed is not good. Because, sleeping on the lower bunk is not favourable. However, it is very common since the 1930's for many people to sleep on a double decker or bunk bed. Notice that it is one flat piece and not a concentrated beam. In the 1930's till to-date, many have entered universites, stayed in dormitories and have also sleep on double decker beds. No significant issues in health or "brain power". In addition, many in Singapore and to-day more so in Hong Kong; where space is a constraint, many still sleep on double decker beds.... Dear Sharlene, Usually this term is used under Flying Star Feng Shui. Under Ba Zi, the equivalent is quite close to"nobleman" luck or indirect luck. So general, it ecompass anything to do with "indirect" luck such as luck for say the woman of the home - in her career luck. And often, it also refers to "indirect" luck that give rise to financial success. For example, the breadwinner is/was able to purchase stocks that "suddenly" rise in value etc.. Dear Vida, Traditionally, many Chinese homes or homes built in Singapore may consider "spilt-levels". The "spilt-levels" is very common for many homes and apartments built in the 1970's. Here, the idea is that the living room CAN be lower than the dining room. Not the other way around. Usually, this "spilt" is only between the living and dining. And other dining is suppose to be at the "back" area of the home. The kitchen and yard should also be if possible the same level or "slightly" higher than the kitchen is OK. Many Feng Shui practitioners do not like the idea of the living room higher than the dining. And conversely, the dining higher than the back yard / kitchen area (if it is at the back of the home). Here, we can imagine that the home slopes downwards from front to the back. Thus instead of "water" at the frontage and mountain behind; the above in general is considered not good Feng Shui. Dear Andy, 1. Frankly, there are no right or wrong answers. This is because in some instances, the "stone" (jade) could belong to one element or a combination of other elements. 2. Let me give you some examples: 2.1 Shape If the jade is shaped like a triangle, then we may say that it is considered as a "fire" element. If the jade is sometimes shaped into jewellery e.g. a jade ring, then many of us would consider this a gemstone or "earth" element. You can think of many other examples, here 2.2 Colour Usually jade is green in colour. The depth of green colour can range from light green to deep grain green. For a scholar of "The Five Elements Concept" perhaps, he or she may say that because jade is green, it has "to be" or belong to the "wood element". Since wood is green or brown. Therefore, there is no right-or-wrong answers! So long as all of us can give a reasonable explanation, no one will fault us in saying what it can be. 2.3 Not a single element: For example, if we take the first example that of a green jade shaped in a pyramid; we may say that because it is triangle shape, much like the sharp point of a "fire" element and yet, it is made of stone "earth" and yet it is green in colour; it is also partially "wood" element. Thus in this last example: it can also be considered as a COMBINATION of : ' Fire , Earth and Wood element '; Interesting, here. If we look at the Productive cycle of the Five Elements, this three combination is considered "harmonious" Where: Wood supports Fire. Fire supports Earth! Dear Sophia, There are several considerations, here:- 1. Factors not taken into consideration in this message: What is the Shapes and Forms of this home like? External, Internal Feng Shui What is the facing direction (mouth) of the home like based on Flying Star Feng Shui. For example, a Period 8 NE1 would not have the same Feng Shui as a Period 8 NW1 home etc... Because of this facing direction, some homes have "more" while others have "lesser" luck. 2. Your friend did not mention about the degree of incompatibility i.e. From lesser incompatibilities such as "irritation and spook" to much greater issues like "death or disaster". 3. It would be "nice-to-have" both the main door and the master-bedroom be favourable to the breadwinner. (based on your friend's practitioner's comments.) However, we live in an "imperfect" world. We should also "take care" of the wife or partner. Thus, a balance would be to purchase a "new" home where if possible,for both partners; their incompatibility in the bedroom be "Prosperity-Irritation" or"Prosperity-Spook"etc... 4. The above is more "harmonising" and beneificial to ALL parties. What is the use of more $$$ in the expense of the other partner (wife). More importantly, one need to understand the concept of Flying Star or what is considered as the "mouth" of the house from this article. If so, one can basically apply Flying Star Feng Shui more effectively. 3. And hopefully able to answer your questions, either more convincingly or with conviction. As no two homes are the same nor for apartments - where height or storey /floor can play a difference. - End - In past forum messages, I had mentioned that in GENERAL there are favourable homes depending on your gua (kua) number. Assuming under Period 8:- Thus for East group, South facing and East facing are normally better than say North facing or SE facing. However, caution, here : other factors include external and interior shapes and forms. For West group, again generally, NE and SW are suppose to be better homes. Thus, even if one is say an East group, owning a NE or SW home or apartment, generally, these homes are suppose to have better wealth luck. (But bear in mind that NE or SW homes have to correct "sickness stars at the front and back of the home) to achieve better Feng Shui luck. Thus, since our home = earth luck, if our earth luck is very good, it can be considered as higher weightage in our quest to achieve better luck. Dear Anon, 1. The general consensus amongst the majority of Feng Shui practitioners is as you had mentioned "place our bed,with the headboardpointing at ourfavourable direction ". 2. This is often the most commonly practised method of defining the above. Thus the saying "head first, not legs first". 3. This saying "head first, not legs first" also associated with the Chinese belief that if we need to bring e.g. a person using a stretcher out of a home or bedroom, we should bring his "head first, not legs, first". Legs first implies bring out a coffin or coffin, position. 4. Of course, there are a FEW Feng Shui practitioners who say that favourable direction is opposite to what I had mentioned under Para 1. The rationale, these practitioners feel that "we should face" our good directions eg. literally facing the good direction (especially when we sit up in the bed). But do we sleep in a sitting position? Yes/No. 5. Thus, as mentioned, above, the consensus by many Feng Shui practitioner is to sleep with our heads facing a good direction. And when we sit, we should face our good direction. Since we often sleep quite "flat" on the bed, head first. Dear Anon, 1. Please see attachment of the site-plan of Housing Development Board (HDB) Stratmore Avenue. 2. Units that are marked in YELLOW and especially high floors can be bathed by afternoon sun. For examples, unit such as 221, 223, 231, 233 etc.. 3. Thus, in my opinion, not the best units to buy, here. Of course, there are other units especially high floors that are at high floors such197, 207 will also get partial afternoon sun. 4. Best if not sure, do visit the units (under appointment) on a sunny hot day at around 5pm. 5. As mentioned, previously, why avoid such units? The issue, here is that in many cases, the interior walls e.g. masterbedroom has soaked in the hot afternoon heat. And even at 7 or 8pm, the heat "releases" into the bedroom ... making sleep or rest unbearable. Thus a simple turn on a fan may not be adequate. Most likely need to turn on the air-con. 6. Under Flying Star Feng Shui, the entire HDB Strathmore should be considered a Period 8 site. Thus, under Period 8, it is more advantages to purchase a Period 8, South 2 (172.5 to 187.4 degrees) facing direction apartment especially at high floors to take advantage of double auspicious #8 stars! 7. Thus generally, North 2 facing does not have as fantastic flying star chart as a Period 8, South 2 facing. (As many of the apartments are either N2 or S2 facing). 8. Generally, east facing apartments are not as bad as west. Since usually the sun rises and bathes heat from 9.30am to 12noon. And afterwards, no issue, in the evening. Dear Soh Hoon, 1. Double-decker beds have been around for many years. Even as far back as in 1930's. Especially in school domitories and army camps. 2. Many pre-university / university students had stayed in hostels and have since graduated, married and many also had become grandfathers! 3. Unlike a beam above one's head, a double decker bed is a flat panel and not a beam. 4. In Singapore especially in the 1960's double-decker beds were also popular as homes are equally as small as those in Hong Kong. Nowadays, many people only have one or two children and thus, less "dependant" on double-decker beds. Thus in my opinion, using a double-decker bed is a non-issue. Dear Anon, It is best to get professional help or for those who know how to draw a proper Flying Star chart; should check for #3. Usually, if star #3 is present in e.g. the master bedroom, then there can be substantial number of quarrels for the husband and wife. Dear Anon, As mentioned in the procedure: 1. It is best to leave the sprinkled rice and green beans for three days. And afterwards, no issue to sweep them away and the remainder - wash the floor. 2. Thus, for example if today is a Wednesday i.e. on a Wednesday we had sprinkled rice and green beans then we should not wash or clean or sweep them after Friday. Thus on Saturday onwards we can sweep the floor. 3. For those who purchased a new housing board flat with just cement screening then... we may not need to remove the rice and green beans as later on, this small amount may be cement screeded and tiles laid on top of it. 4. The above procedure was fine tuned. As for info, previously some Chinese do sprinkle an addition of tea leaves and salt! BUT WAIT! For those who have purchased a home that has especially mable floor ing laid and parquet wood tiles.. it may be hazardous to sprinkle tea leaves as if the leaves were stained by water.. it may leave very nastly tea leave stains on the floor! And salt can be very acid to parquet wood tiles. 5. Thus, the current procedure takes into consideration all these issues! Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, Frankly, there is no hard-or-fast rule, here. The procedure that you had done is non-religious and if we disect it; the procedure is about placing wealth into our homes. In Singapore, majority Chinese dialect group is made up of Hokkien (from Fujian provicince) approx 22 percent of all Chinese in Singapore. Thus it is common practise to roll in a pineapple and buy fa gao. Teochews also have nearly this procedure. Other procedures include the placement of fruits four corners and centre has more to do with the Cantonese dialect group where the Cantonese are concerned with the 5 spirits of the home e.g. 4 corner spirits of North, South, East, West and Centre spirits or the 5 spirits. Coming back to your question: In Singapore, there are different state of renovation/ non-renovated homes. For example, even in a HDB or housing board flat, we have new uncompleted flats where flooring is not done, yet to premium flats and condos or resale flats where often the floor tiles are done up. Thus, often, if your home is totally uncompleted e.g. the living room and bedroom floor is simply cement screening with lots of dust on the floor then naturally, one may not want to wash the fruits (after three days) of placement and eat them. Thus, the natural thing is to throw them and the fa gao away. Sometimes, we have ants, and other insects e.g. cockroaches crawing on the floor and for hygene purposes, we have no choice but to throw the fruits away! For some homes e.g. condos, where the floor is clean and fruits laided out... and if some of the fruits are still in good condition, why not or no issue in eating them later. Thus, as mentioned above, once the ritual has been performed, there is no hard and fast rule as what to do with the fruits there after. If possible, do not give them away. As it is not a matter of being selfish but rather, giving them away is like giving away wealth! Thus no choice, best to throw them away. Dear Anon, In a past article in this website; I have mentioned that there was a study in Germany. Where it was reported that there were higher incidences of cancer for those who place their bed above a sewerage pipe. In your case, hopefully, the toilet bowl shares another wall (other than with your bed head). If so, so long as the toilet bowl does not share the same wall as your bed-head this is often fine. Dear Anon, In general, you have mentioned that your interior of your apartment has been changed to a Period 8 apartment. But your exterior is still considered a Period 7 block. Ideally, of course that the exterior of the building gets a good new coat of paint. And often, many blocks should have been painted by the 5th or 6th or at least the 7th year that it is in. If so, there is no issue since your home (block and apartment) have at least a new coat of paint). The other senario is to do a proper Flying Star chart. As flying star chart looks at the frontage: it is good that also often, the home should not be stuffy and if possible, the whole home should be well ventilated. This is to encourage qi into the home. Goodness me! Your other questions are more like asking me to do a full Feng Shui audit by listing out each sectors stars. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, Every home (landed property) and apartments (condos / apartment / flat) have their distinctive Feng Shui. For new condo developments, often, we cannot, yet see what we buy. So, the most crucial piece of "paper" to scrutinise is the site plan! Study, study, study the site plan very closely. Look at where the afternoon sun comes in. And if there are other blocks nearby, how high are they and do imagine how far the sun can come into the home. In addition, look for any "sharp edges" of other blocks/units pointed at the prospective unit that one is considering buying. As well as looking into the various interior layout plans. Products are often "Bull-shit" 1. For many of us, if we look back to our grandparents "time" or even "parents" time, there were no such thing as "crystals" or many of the newly invented objects or items "in-the-name" of Feng Shui. Thus most of these products, aim to extra money from our pockets ... and as a result line the pocket of the sellers. 2. Many of these products do not come with a guarantee card that; for example, after purchasing it e.g. the three-legged-toad; one would instantly win a lottery etc... Far from it. This is where the fixed ba gua method has been derived i.e. Black Hat Sect and many "kindergarden" type of Feng Shui practitioners.
