For sure, the seller of the ship, would instead be garanteed of some profit selling it to us. Dear Anon, It would be OK or beneficial for bad stars to be "drowned" in a toilet. This is much better especially for stars such as #5 or multiples of it and/or #2 or #3 to land in this location. On the contrary, (INSTEAD) it would be a waste for good stars to land into such locations. For example, it would be "unfortunate" to have say a set of double 8's to land in the toilet bowl! Dear Anon, Yes, what I mentioned in the Applied Feng Shui course is primarily based on Shapes and Forms Feng Shui. Since (OFTEN) locations that we can place a water position even under Flying Star Feng Shui have to meet the criteria that there is sufficient clear-space to allow for a water position. This is why, in some homes, even if the water wealth position such as double 8's under Period 8, can still be at the "sitting" position e.g. the back of the house. And if the back of the house is the lounge or family room or patio, then, this is a favourable location to activate water wealth position. If the pictures are simply "decorations", then since NW has the water wealth #8, this location can benefit with the activation of a water position, here. Dear Joan, I am really not sure whether I should let you know this case. I believe sometime back as far back as 1999 or earlier, there was this example of underground water (or sewerage pipe) running under a house. And so happens that this German study, mentioned that there was a high incidence of cancer where beds were placed either above this pipe or close to it. Perhaps, maybe the pipes had corroded or etc... We do not know. Where possible, as you had mentioned, try to place your furniture especially sitting position as far away from the pipes. Many Cantonese (Chinese dialect group) love to have a mirror facing the dining area. As they feel that it would bounce off twice the amount of "food" on the table. 3. For those who stay in a high rise; and if the wall is particularly long, sometimes, the contractor would arrange for cut pieces of mirror to be sent up to your home for installation. If so, avoid, installing two identical pieces of mirror. This is because, if installed, and if one stands at the centre of the mirror, one can look at a "split" in the exact middle which is considered not auspicious. Dear Carolyn, 1. Yes, I can truly sympathise with many new proud owners of (small compact) homes. 2. In my opinion, one major culprit has to do with the compulsory need for a Household shelter a.k.a. bomb shelter. This does not sound comforting to some owners. Last year, one client said that since his unit is at the highest floor, and with the launch of bunker busting smart bombs; he felt safer (in an emergency) at his basement car-park than in his apartment! Worse! - If, the intelligence gathering is so lousy - as anyone could claim that he harbours "bin laden". His unit will be the first to "get-it". 3. This is so especially for new two or three room apartments. 4. Sorry for the side-track! 5. More so, ideally, it was (is) felt that when we enter the home, we should not, first see the dining table. 6. This has more to do with commonsense. That, in many homes, if one has only one dining table, usually, it may be piled with food or even newspapers etc... 7. And it may become unsightly. No choice, given that family members may come-home at different times. 8. Usually, it is because of this; that where possible, a dining table should be "out-of-sight" of the main entrance. Dear Nita, Frankly, this issue has more to do with maintenance or upkeep of the furniture (cupboard) than Feng Shui. Often, broken or nearly broken pieces could further fall off or splinter and this may not be safe. For example, pieces could fall off to the floor and one may accidentally step on it. If there is an issue in replacement, then, provided, also "uglyness" is not an issue, than, simple options are to purchase masking tape or scotch-tape to seal the sharp edges and hold the rest of the mirror together. Dear Florina, Most of us (unfortunately) have to read too many Feng Shui books. Although some books say that a mirror facing a bed is no good, but, often, this may not be exactly true in the REAL WORLD. For example, in the past, I had given this senario: 1. OK. The book says that when we sleep, our spirit is said to wander out of our body. When it sees the mirror, it gets a shock of it's life. 2. But, how about the situation where, this "spirit" needs to "look into" the mirror i.e. comb hair to look nice before, "flying" off? 3. In our real world, it all boils down to "sensitivity". 4. How sensitive are we? 5. For example, many people can sleep soundly with a mirror facing them. Or a TV set facing them etc... 6. This does not automatically mean that it is bad for everyone. 7. Dear Dawn, In my opinion, there should not be any issue with the keeping of pets. This is particularly good for some, especially who have children who had asked for the pets. House cleaning these pets would (hopefully) inculcate a sense of responsibility. However, many mothers reading this may be shaking their heads. Dear Angelina, Yes, it is very common to find windchimes with varying or different lengths. This is perfectly OK. Usually, some of them have clinger or the middle coin attached to it - being too heavy to make any sound. (I suspect only a hurricane or a typhoon sized wind may cause it to make a sound. *JOKE*) The better windchimes are those with alluminium rod with a wooden "roof/support" and a wooden clinger. Dear Fiona, Frankly, with or without ba zi analysis, many people have opted to change their names. In fact, name change (or for that matter) is pretty easy. One only needs to go to a lawyer, ask for a "deed poll" service. And the lawyer will prepare a deed poll for effecting a name change. In Singapore, depending on the law firm, the service charge is around $150 to $200 for this change. One can present this document to the National Registration Office to process a change of IC name. Of-course, bank accounts etc.. should be updated with the name change. Also by presenting the copy of the deed poll to the bank or any institutions of borrowing. It is a legal copy that is widely accepted. Under Chinese name change criteria, sometimes, we do not need to change our name but rather the character in a name. Thus, sometimes, there can be a subsitute for one of our "bad" name characters with a similar sounding name. This could be that the new name has a better stroke. You are For a wind chime: best to use 6 hollow metal/alluminium rod wind chime. Never use a colourful wind chime. I need Frankly, with a water position, it is currently safe already. "Flying" now will become "cheaper" with the slow introduction of "budget" airlines in Singapore! with the launch of Valueair, Lion air in the next year or two!!! etc.. *JOKE ONLY* Thus budget "flying" to the new period is e.g. repainting the entire ceiling of the home. But, this may take a while to change to the new period. More expensive "flying" i.e. major renovations may be often out of the question for budget reasons or home is very new.
