  1. Please refer to some of the most recent messages with terms like "the three step approach" or "maximizing marks".
  2. 1. In my opinion, it is always good to do some research rather than depend frequently on "spoon feeding" info as a frequent forum user. 2. For example, the bigger picture includes the concept of "sum of ten", "pearl string". Which is part of some of these SW1 or NE1 flying star combinations. And the concept that there is no such thing as a perfect home in every way. 3. If you have gone thru some of my past messages, I have also warned of ill but correctable health e.g. for NE or SW homes.
  3. 1. Usually, facing a wall implies that often, in some instances, we may have our back to a door. 2. Thus on it's own, work facing a wall is perfectly alright. 3. Given that you are new and that this type of layout in some office is common to save space or utilise limited space. 4. Under Eight House Feng Shui, it is considered good to sit facing a good direction. So, if you are facing a good direction (Nice-to-have) and not a must have, then this will be one plus point. 5. Having one's back to an entrance door - often is more of personal "comfort" level, as often, nowadays many work on a computer and the screen is visible - plus often many of us don't like being "surpised" from behind. 6. Some people, strategically place a small mirror on their desktop or on their pc monitor edge to monitor anyone behind us much like a car rear mirror. This is not Feng Shui but considered as Human factor. Quote: Anonymous wrote: I've just joined a new job. I work with computers, my desk faces the wall and I have my back to the entrance door. I have read one must avoid these two situations, I can't change this placement, so please, could you suggest some other way to counteract thisif it's something really negative. Thank you.
  4. 1. Some of the sectors you had mentioned used to be considered as harmonious to the placement of a water feature. Being "harmonious" does not always (often) equate to it as a water wealth location. 2. The key consideration is if you are able to draw a Flying Star Feng Shui chart. Or hire a competent practitioner to review your home Feng Shui. 2.1 Why Flying Star Feng Shui? What you had mentioned under Para 1 has to do with "fixed" or non-time dimension Feng Shui. And mostly to do with rudimentary concept of The Five elements. Where, in general, north = water element. 2.2 And under the Eight aspirations (another fixed non-time dimension) Feng Shui, north = career sector.. Etec.. 3.1 Thus it is believed that a more accurate assessment should be made using Compass School Flying Star Feng Shui. 3.2 In many of my past forum messages, if it happensfor an existing home tobe able to tap " Water star #8 " e.g. this happens to becoincidentally at the balcony, then, #8 water or a water position can bring significant benefit as this is the current water wealth sector. (Subject to further analysis of what is theMountain Star # and Base # at that location). But overall, this is a potential site to enhance wealth in a home. 3.3 Under Para3.2, if one can install a water feature, this is considered as a "wealth enhancement". But water may be used to "drown" bad stars. Thus on one hand it helps to enhance wealth, sometimes, it may be used to"plug" leaks in a home. Flying Starcombinations ofdouble #7's and the likes of #5 with #2 etc.. 4. Therefore, the benefit of using Flying Star is that in general, water position can be used either for :- a. wealth enhancement : Such as Water star #8 (current properity) and even water star #1 (future prosperity- not now luck but luck for5 to 10 years down the road). 5.In the past, many less educated practitioners or even those learning and DIYFeng Shui, may only practise "kindergarten Feng Shui" as mentioned under Para 1. For example, east = wood element and water position at east is harmonious to it. 6. In general, under this Period 8, onemay consider activating a water feature, especially if the compass direction South-West falls in an openarea e.g. the frontage of a home oran appropriate living room! 7. But one should not be foolish in that if a waterwealth sector is found in a bedroom, don't ever activate it, there! 8. Nowadays, I begin to see a trend of "Commando Style" Feng Shui... not recommended (Not Strongly recommended).
  5. 1. The Eight House (Eight Mansions) concept is "fixed". For example, as you had mentioned, if north is your favourable direction, then most likely you are an East group person i.e. your "overall" good or acceptable directions are " North, South, East and South East". 2. While Flying Star, as you had mentioned, is based on "star numbers" and their combined significance. 3. There are situations where a room can be surrounded by bad stars. Some rooms or some homes depending on the flying star numbers may even be affected by truly bad stars such as #5 #9 #5. If so, it is very difficult to disarm such stars. While rooms with #2 and #9 could most likely generallybe neutralised. Quote: Melody V. wrote: Hello there, My bedroom is located in one of my good sectors which is the north. So when I sleep, my head points to the north which is my good direction too. However, what if bad flying stars number 2 and 5 fly to the north? - Let us say, number 2 and 5 fly to the north as annual stars....Is it still okay if my head points to the north? Ot should my head point to another direction instead?
  6. 1. Traditionally, in general, one of the main purpose of ba zi is to "zero in" into most common tool: What isyour personal ba zi element and strength. 2. For example, a person may have a result as a "weak wood" person. 3. Although you are not wrong, sometimes it is very difficult or impractical to apply. 4.1 For example, the Flying Star Feng Shui has the 20 Year stars, the yearly stars, the monthly stars and even daily and hourly stars! 4.2 Thus, even if you know say the Water wealth star #8 is at a specific moment in time of the day, would one be free enough to have a moveable water feature to move around (a cluttered) home! It is not like plugging in a vacuum cleaner and moving it around with the cords dangling the house. 5. Ba zi with the final "result" as e.g. weak wood, strong wood, strong fire, weak fire is already an acceptable "universal" resultant of the analysis of each individual. Flying star numbers or Flying star "numerology" also uses the Five elements concept. 6. Thus the common denominator of your individual ba zi element and strength e.g. weak wood can be interfaced or correlated with the Flying Star Feng Shui as it also uses the Five elements concept as the common denominator. Of course, there are still many practitioners out there who don't even know how to interpret or worse, get one's ba zi element wrong! (This is besides the point, here).
  7. 1. Please note that your question is a "very common" thing! For example, under the Eight Mansions (8 House) there are 4 good and 4 bad directions. 2. If we apply mathemathics, 1/ 8 or one-eight probability that a home may have one's death or disaster at the frontage and equal probability in one's bedroom! 3. Frankly, in the Eight Mansion's sense, no one will die from it! Unless our mind takes over.. i.e. too intense auto suggestion and self-fullfilling prophecy -- takes over!) 4. Please search for a very recent reply (just a few days ago) on the same subject. 5. You may search for terms like: Maximising marks and The Three-Step approach. 6. In my opinon, all these "talk about death" is unhealthy! Quote: Sharon V. wrote: Does this mean, i am going to die young, or soon. Have you come across this before, and helped someone correct the problem.
  8. 1. In general, yes priority should go to the Flying Star Feng Shui. As it is "real time" or dynamic! 2. For example, if one asks any army (or navy), "real time" intelligence "beats" static non dynamic info all the time. 3. Thus drawing a parallel to Para 2, above, and the above reasoning, priority should always go for "analysis" or "approach to an action" based on something that is or close to real time. 4. While, the Eight House/Mansions should be considered as NICE to have and not a MUST have! Quote: Katrina L. wrote: Hello again Master Lee, We plan to build a new house facing W3 and sitting E3. According to my eight mansions chart, SE is supposed to be my best location for prosperity HOWEVER, the natal house chart for period 8 says that this sector has #5 mountain star, #2 water star and #7 base star. All the stars are bad stars. So is it safe to assume that I should prioritize the flying star chart over the eight mansions chart? In that case, I will just have to put my toilet area/walk-in closet in this SE area? And my bedroom in my East area? (I'm kua #1). Thanks for all the help you've been giving so far!
  9. 1. Frankly it is very easy to come up with creative names and concepts:- 1.1. What is a dwarf ? Imagine lying on a bed. A bed is often from floor level to a few feet up in the air. And a dwarf is often no less higher than a regular bed. 1.2 What is an olympic (or Dimensional)? Imagine the ceiling of any home. It is hope that if one can do a high jump equivalent to the ceiling.. well, there is the Olympic Gold medal for you! 2. How do we go from here? 2.1 Nowadays, many people read too many books on Feng Shui or ill advised by their family, relatives or friends or hear say that it is no good to have a ceiling fan mounted above one's bed! 2.2 Why? 2.3 Hey! Don't hang a fan, as if it falls down, it will not only hurt you, it may even be fatal! Heard from another person is that the center weight (or "ball" or "mass") of the ceiling fan may press against one's body! 2.4 How often do we hear a fan fall down or worse guillotine some one? Yes/No? 3. " When a dwarf star meet the Gold medalist (Olympic) it is truly love at first - and eternal sight! " 3.1 It is always good to have a fan circulating air in a bedroom. Here, the dimensional star (from the ceiling... brings along #6 metal). And it will certainly touch and refresh the dwarf star. 3.2 In fact, first choice is natural air flow. Next choice is a fan. Nowadays, many of us turn on Hepa cleaners, and/or Hepa cleaners with ionisers 24 hours in a day! 4. The family of "fans' include those hand held ones where the servants will fan the Kings and Queens to: electic fan to air cleaners to air con! 5. Thus if we think of it " six coins tied with red string " = #6. But fans have already existed for so many donkey years!
  10. 1. Many Feng Shui practitioners love to claim that they have secret tips. 2. If one breaks down such "ideas". They are simply commonsense. Or often, it is the commonsense approach to Feng Shui. 3. For example, #2 "fell in love with #6" from another sector. 4. Commonsense approach to Feng Shui is: How does these two "meet?" Speed dating? 5. Commonsense tells us that just imagine: #6 = an airconditioner. Do you know that an airconditioner can be considered as "moving metal?" Even a fan can be considered as "moving metal". 6. Turning on an air-con, and in today's wonderful world of some aircons blessed with ion clusters, hepa cleaners.. is even more "godly" then anything else. 7. Thus, no need to use such a "very mysterious and wow, impressive" high level language! Just turn on your fan or air-con and here, #6 will or can meet #2! Ha hahaha! 8. In fact, most healthy people, live on higher grounds and "open air" concept. In the past, the traditional Chinese home has an open middle court yard? Why to allow proper air-circulation! No need what star #6 to fall in love with #2! 9. Many homes, often are caught unawares when there is high pressure air forcing it's way into a home during or soon to be heavy rain. In fact, some people instintively oopen all their windows and doors reguarly to allow fresh air to circulate a home. This is good way to "flush" and "cleanse" the home.
  11. Ssssssh! I am a newbie:- I DEMAND to know my WEALTH SECTOR AND I DEMAND to know what is the EXACT ENHANCER! AND I DEMAND that you let me know NOW! (OPTIONAL - BUT IMPLIED!)
  12. It is interesting that 8 to 10 years ago, whenever someone wants to find out Chinese "mystic" practises, will most of the time search the internet for "astrology" or "Chinese zodiac" signs. It was rare at that time for a search of : Feng Shui or the dialect term of "Fung sway" etc... Nowadays, many can seem to correctly search for "Feng Shui". This is good because: Chinese astrology in my opinion may lead to "auto suggestion" and even "self-fullfilling prophecy!". In the past, I cannot really see the correlation between a geomancer siting on the road side, "dictating" some one else's future. If the geomancer can "predict" someone else future, why can't he predict his own?
  13. 1. Usually, there are two major instances where a home may not be "lived" in by human beings:- 1.1 Shapes and Form Feng Shui In this example, a house is "entrapped" and death may follow anyone living in this entrapped house:- http://forum.geomancy.net/phpforum/article.php?bid=2&fid=19&mid=11582&new= 1.2 Flying Star Feng Shui Some homes may have bad Shapes and Forms and in certain instances, combined with bad yin stars. For example, some bad yin stars may result in "death" in such a home thru suicide ..... 2. What you had mentioned, has often to fit with Para 1 and or Para 2. Thus, it NEED not necessarily be a specific animal sign e.g. Rat living in a South house (Horse element). 3. What you had mentioned often belongs to the category called "Kindergarden Feng Shui". And often, if it does occur it is often by coincidence. 4. Kindergarden Feng Shui is like saying that North = Water, South = Fire, East = Wood etc... And does not consider more complex interactions such as Flying Star Feng Shui or a person's ba zi. 5. In Singapore, even as recent as 1970's to 1980's, there were the "less educated" Geomancers! Such persons, because of their lower education, and many of these are "fly by night" practitioners who, place a table at a road side (five foot way) and begin to do Astrology Forecast. This is at the time when, IBM PC, Apple computer was around the corner and there was no internet. 6. In the 1990's, when the internet arrived, there were tons of "Black Hat Sect" or they were called Tibetian Black Hat Sect - sounds mysterious and enticing. Came online to flood the internet with the modern invention of "Fixed template" Feng Shui. 7. Nowadays, with better informed persons, more books, more online materials, it is more important that one should all the morenot be "conned" into applyingKindergarden Feng Shui. "
  14. 1. Frankly, majority of the time, or intuitively, once we see a room, often, we have in our mindsa suitable seating arrangement. 2. As your message is vague, it is best that one should feel "comfortable" sitting in a direction viewing tv (based on para 1.). 3. Thus, I really won't know for sure, given that there is no layout sketch. Even if there is a layout sketch, if Feng Shui is applied, considerations like the shapes and forms, eight house and flying star Feng Shui is considered. 4. Honestly, a Feng Shui practitioner will often consider the environment. If the environment is a bedroom, a "sane" FS practitioner would never recommend a wind chime in a bedroom! 5. Is it a coincidence but, just recently, several messages seems to suggest that Feng Shui is an "exact science!" 6. In my most recent reply to another message, Feng Shui is not like a doctor learning about the human anatomy. 7. Thus, it is "irresponsible" to ask a question like " how high (wind chime should they be?" If my answer, is: " To be effective it has to be hung 350 metres high". Can you do that? 8. The other question is "where should they go". Again, if one is applying Feng Shui, then a full Feng Shui audit may be required to be done. 9. I sincerely hope that when users post question, please understand that from a Feng Shui point of view, a proper analysis has to be done. 10. Such questions shows that nowadays, not only many people are trying to practice "Fast Food Feng Shui" but rather, worse off - " You are practising COMMANDO style Feng Shui". This is really bad. 11. As I mentioned early, if you love the sound of wind chimes by all means, place it. BUT if you are wanting to use such objects or material things in the name sake of Feng Shui, often, like a bomerang, it will catch up with you and bite you!
  15. 1. Please note that there is no cure under the Eight House or Eight Mansions concept:- http://wiki.geomancy.net/wiki/The_Three-Step-Approach For example, for the Eight house, it is best to spent time at good sector or face a good sector (FULL STOP). 2.1 If you cannot do the above, there is no further cure for it. Eight House concept is usually YES or NO type of senario. and there is no such thing as cure for it! 2.2. Thus is your house direction facing a good direction? YES? NO? 2.3. Is your bedroom in a good sector? YES? NO? 3. Seriously what can be done for the above? Yes or No? If NO, then, if one still wants to apply Feng Shui, then jolly well, look at this concept:- http://wiki.geomancy.net/wiki/The_Concept_of_Maximizing_Marks 4. If the above does not sound reasonable, then please see whether you think it is reasonable or feasible to move - house! (Full stop!)
  16. You can use our free ba zi analysis to find your compatible colours:- http://www.geomancy.net/reports/free-report/freerpt-element.htm
  17. 1. Yes, since you are not a Cantonese a simple knockin say at the east or west wall will do. 2. Other points you had mentioned sounds reasonable or OK.
  18. Frankly, this is the first time I heard of "weird things" like using wood chips in Feng Shui! If in doubt, always contact the owner who gave you this information. In my opinion, to most of us, it can mean anything under the sky.
  19. 1. "There is a limit to all Feng Shui theories". http://wiki.geomancy.net/wiki/The_Three-Step-Approach 2. It is good to understand the beneifits and limitations of each concept. Since you are at the Eight House (Eight Mansions / Ba Cai) Feng Shui then if one does not spent time at that location or nice to have facing a direction nothing much can be done using this concept. 3. Then if one wants to apply Feng Shui, then one has to try to find other ways (means) of improving luck by considering other concepts, theories, such as any other "wealth leak to fix" or any areas to enhance. Thus logically, seek out:- http://wiki.geomancy.net/wiki/The_Concept_of_Maximizing_Marks
  20. 1. Frankly, after reading several of your messages, hope I don't mind saying that you are really "impatient" to apply Fast Food Feng Shui! 2. Isn't it better to know all the facts rather than do DIY Feng Shui. Or leading the blind to guide you! Quote: Ellen E. wrote: Thinking ofcontructing a 4 ft x 2 ft pond for water lily, lotusand other water plants at the left side of my gate. Can I build the pond outside my fancing? 3. For example, you make the above statement. And expect me with all the "blind" unknown variable and adivse you whether it is good or not to built a pond outside your fencing? This is not right! I might as well use a dice and throw it and then give you an answer! 4. As for a ba gua facing one's entrance, please note that IN GENERAL also there are various types of ba gua. For example, some hang as a protection of their home, while some use it to suck wealth. Again... if one is impatient to know the answer, please do some research, first! For example, under the topic photo tours of interest, I have shown majority of the various ba gua mirrors. And what are their purpose...... If you still cannot find the article:- http://wiki.geomancy.net/wiki/Types_of_Ba_Gua_Mirror 5. If you are not sure what is Fast Food Feng Shui, then:- http://wiki.geomancy.net/wiki/Fast_Food_Feng_Shui will show the end result of one practing Fast Food Feng Shui. Please don't end up at such a state, please!
  21. Sorry, I am afraid that it is indeed a "silly" question. First time I have heard planting alarge tree to represent a mountain! Oh Boy! 1. Many trees have a tree trunk. And as the tree grow older, the trunk may be thick and hopefully it does not become a "poison arrow" slicing towards the main entrance door or even a window such as the window of the living room. This may inadvertenly create sha qi (poison arrow). 2. Under the Five Elements concept:- Imagine a large tree, it has roots that dig into earth to weaken earth. Thus if this sector say has an auspicious mountain star e.g. earth #8. Then imagine the roots of the plants will go and dig into the earth! Ideally, it should instead be a rock garden to form a solid mountain. Frankly there are a few more disadvantages with having a tree! For example, one of them is that in Singapore, especially during the 1960's to 1980's the trend (was) that many homes plant a mango tree. And after 5 to 10 years old, the tree has lots of leaves and below the area, it is so yin (dark)! And this makes the garden area dark and gloomy!
  22. 1. In my opinion, when you mention "south on the bagua", I may rightly or wrongly come to the conclusion that you are getting a template and placing it over the layout plan. 2. If you are considering the "modern commercial invention" of fixed template Feng Shui, where this "joker" prepares a template with markings like: North (career) ....... then, this practise is NON Traditional Feng Shui. 3. As I have mentioned, TRADITIONAL Feng Shui is about taking the correct directions and superimposing say a Flying star chart. If you are applying Flying Star Feng Shui, then South is south, north is north based on the magnetic compass. If not sure, re-read, and re-read again. Alternatively, some of my resources in geomancy.net website shows how to find the centrepoint and try to allocate the Eight House chart on a home layout plan. 4. Seriously, you cannot be reading between the lines and since you are doing DIY, just because there was some mention of 6 coins, then you quickly want to implement it. 5. Do take note that the Eight House and Flying star belongs to the Compass School Feng Shui. Many do start their charts with the Eight House chart first. I can understand everyone wants to jump in, but as they say Rome is not built in a day! So does your Feng Shui knowlege cannot be in bits and pieces! 6. If you have gone thru some of the resources on Eight House, the Flying star chart is usually mapped on top of it. 7. Unfortunately, it is not right to practise Fast food Feng Shui!
  23. 1. Yes usually even if one is not using joss sticks, prior to knocking three times, one may consider saying this phrase in mandarin or one's dialect: " To all the gods, apologies, I am starting renovations in (on) ______ such a such a date (can be next week, next month etc..) 2. This year try not to knock three times at the North (Grand Duke location) and South (three killings location). Otherwise, can either knock on the gloor or on the wall three times. Quote: Jo H. wrote: Hi,I just got my house keys and opened the door for the first time. Intending to start renovation within the next 1 - 2 weeks. Used your online auspicious date search and found that this Wednesday is a good day and the next good day will be more than 2 wks later. Can I go to my place and symbolically knock 3 times on the wall or floor to mark the start of renovation, even though after knocking, actual renovation work will not start until 1 - 2 wks later? Knocking 3 times and praying at 4 corners (no joss sticks, just simple praying) is sufficient as dong tu procedures? Any preference on where to knock (eg mid of living room floor) or where not to knock (which direction offend Grand Duke, etc)? 3. Knocking at all four corner (and not forgetting the center of the living room or living cum dining) is more of a Cantonese dialect group thing. As the Cantonese believe that each home has 5 spirits or god. Spirt of the North, South, East, West and Centre. Thus, if one uses the 1st time open procedure that I had drawn out, this caters to the Cantonese idea of setting out 5 types of fruits each for each of these gods. 4. Preferably, if one gets a monk to come in, usually it is after the completion of the renovation. Some do get a monk to bless the home BEFORE they start renovations (or immediately when they get their keys and get the monk to come in to bless the home. Frankly, there is no Hard or fast rule, here. The situation is fluid. 5. Preferably the home should be completed before one do the an chuang procedure. You may do the an chuang procedure. And later on when you want to move in then do the move-in procedure. No longer need to knock three times again. 6. The main consideration during the move-in is that the master bed should be set-in and one should sleep overnight in the home. And the stove should be "ready" or installed in the kitchen. 7. Again, all these procedures should more importantly meet one's needs i.e. should try to fit our present situation and not become a slave of our domain. The idea is that everything done should be smooth and in addition, it should not create any stress or despair if we are not able to follow pont-by-point. More importantly it should bring us memorable feelings.
  24. 1. Please note that generally "Feng Shui" cures are or should be considered as "preventive cures". It is not meant to be used for "existing situations" such as say constant backache etc.. 2. Whenever in doubt, always seek professional help! 3. The ideal choice is the luxury of selecting a home where in general, majority of the bad stars are not clusted at the "mouth" of the house (frontage) and anywhere that we frequently spent time at. Of course this is a luxury most cannot "afford" or too late since we have lived in the home. 4. Nowadays, if we want "clean" air, it is best to depend on Hepa cleaners (such as reputable brands like Honeywell air cleanrs or Japanese Sharp brand ioniers that can blast negative ions or negative / positive ions. Contrast this to the traditional method of using or filling a glass jar filled with 6 coins, salt water. 5. Traditional "health" preventive scheme(s) based on Feng Shui include the placement of a hulu e.g. next to the bedside table etc... There are other acceptable cures include a moving clock etc... 6. A little knowlege is a dangerous thing! Just because you have "just" heard of the 6 coins tied with red string.. you want to use it......Using Feng Shui blindly such as this, without full knowledge of type of "cures" is say the least dangerous! 7. Although the colour of your bedroom scheme looks acceptable, it is like the blind leading the blind, here....
  25. Further to what I had mentioned:- 1. In my opinion, usually or most of the time if one's action is "mechanical", please forget about "implementing IT". 2. For example, this is a clear cut case of:- "I was told that SW is a good location of a water feature. I want you to tell me what size, what height and what colour". 3. In such a situation, I would say forget it! No point putting the water feature, please! 4. Contrast this with someone... intutively saw a nice lovely water feature! " I would like to have it in my .... living room!" 5. Somehow, very often, human interaction such as I simply love it, want to own it, install and enjoy it! Would often be a good synergy between the environment (Feng Shui earth luck) and human luck (nice feeling) 6. Just imagine, when we fall in-love with an object or even person, are you crazy or "spastic" to bring a measuring tape and measure your love one? His/her height, "thickness" and weight? And what colour are you? 7. Thus, if one is going to ask another what size, what height, what colour... please, don't bother to buy it! It will highly likely not work at all. 8. Hope you see my point. The morale of the story, "Don't Ape or buy something just for the sake of..." It is rubbish!
