  1. Dear Gaylia, Gaylia Hunter wrote: I am very new at Feng Shui and am trying to incorporate itinto our home. We are four very different people living in the house so how do I incorporate the good positions, colours, etc.without creating bad for someone else. Generally, though there are 4 persons staying in the house, not all 4 persons will be using all the rooms at the same time. For example, bedroom maybe two person (for husband and wife) may share the same room. In such cases, you choose colours that will match for both persons staying in the room. ie say weak water, weak wood, Water element will be common. So for this bedroom you choose this as a common colour. Since the other member does not stay in this room, so you do need to worry about colours for to suit them. What is important is the colours to fit the people staying in the room. So same goes for the bed placement etc, each room will have different bed placement etc. Same goes for study table/work table etc. Each person can also have their own positions within their room/work space. So again as long as you apply them individually, there is really no problem applying feng shui for the entire family. For common rooms like living room etc. Choose more neutral colours like off-white / white colour, as these will be generally acceptable to all. Since the breadwinner is the key person in the house, most colour scheme for common room if possible try to choose colours that will not clash with the breadwinner or neutral colours. So apply the concepts systematically, and choose colour schemes/ best positions depending on who is using that room. The rest of the less important rooms, it really does not matter as long as they remain clutter free. Hope that helps. Warmest Regards Robert Lee GEOMANCY.NET - Center for Applied Feng Shui Research
  2. Dear Alenac Chua, Alenac Chua wrote: I could not understand what you are getting at based on the compass reading of pointing to the centre of the main door in your column of how to read the compass of 15 degrees differential. Can you give us a simple example.tks Eight House divides the house into 8 sector so each sector is 45 degree. So North for example is 337.4 to 22.4 degree. Flying Star sub-divides the sector into 24 sectors, so each sector ie North (45 degree) is sub divided into 3 sub-sector (ie North 1 - 337.4-352.4, North 2 - 353.5-7.4, North 3 - 7.5-22.4). When applying either flying star or eight house, we divide the house into usually 8 sectors. For getting the flying star reading, you need to take the facing / main door of the house which requires the exact compass degree. For apartment (2nd-7th level), you take the main door facing direction. For apartment (8th level and up), you take the living room/balcony facing direction. For landed property, you take the facing of the house/building. The sub-division, is usually necessary only to know what type of flying star direction is the house considered, however, in practical application of the charts, you only need to divide into 8 sectors. Hope that helps. Warmest Regards Robert Lee GEOMANCY.NET - Center for Applied Feng Shui Research
  3. Dear Anon, Anonymous wrote: What is the best measurement for a study desk? Height, width and length. How should the study desk be positioned. Also, it is extremely difficult to find a closed book shelf for purchase. What is the cure for a open book shelf. What color should the study room be painted? I am thinking of installing a crystal ceiling fixture is this okay! or should I use quartz? Generally, if you have a feng shui ruler every8 inch will fall under the auspicious dimensions ie 7-10 inch or 15-18 inch etc. Most table are generally of a standard size which normally falls under an auspicious dimension. So should not need to worry too much. As for book shelf, it is ok to have open book shelf. Just arrange the furniture in such a way that there is no unnecessary poition arrow from the corner of the furniture at the end of the book shelf. The individual shelf is less impact than the corner of the book shelf. So as long as you arrange in such a way it creates as little posion arrow. Should be no problem. Hope that helps. 4. Dear HK Don, hk don wrote: For applying a cure on a three storey terrance house for a given sector (say NW), do we need to put the samecure on every floor or just the ground floor or top floor? Pls advise. Thanks Generally, the best way is to always use colour scheme to balance up the room and minimise the use of cures. This is the most efficient and effective way. However, where there is no other option, then a cure at the right sector may be necessary. Depending on the severity, if really very unbalanced, then having a cure on different level is ok. Else, just fix up the more important rooms (ie bedrom, living room, main door etc). If the room is the storeroom or toilet, then not so necessary to duplicate the cures. Hope that helps. Is this necessariliy bad feng shui? Thankyou Generally, it should not be a big problem. Though, it is not the best idea to have the stair located close to the door. However, since the shape and form placement is most optimium at this point, therefore, to minimise the problem just keep the door close. In feng shui, if you can no longer see the problem, it no longer becomes a problem. Hope that helps. Warmest Regards Robert Lee GEOMANCY.NET - Center for Applied Feng Shui Research

  7. Dear CindyLu, CindyLu Who wrote: In your experience, have you ever had the need to use 2 flying star charts? If year of construction of house is known, but several renovations have been made to the house but those years are unknown, would you use more than one chart? And how would you compare the 2 charts to enable you to make decisions? In such cases, we have to determine which chart will fall closest to the current influence of the house. Usually, we try to determine what has been done, because if there are hacking/addition/removal of house structure, generally, it is clear cut sign of a change in period. If not, then we just have to assess two charts, see which has events or features which fall closest to predicted event of the flying star. One thing we always consider especialy for old or existings house. Are we planning to have a major renovations. If so, then the original house does not matter. As you should work to change the house period to the new one. Then based on that to activate or enhance. In most cases, if the house is very old, the likelyhood of a more recent chart to have taken over is higher. So we based on all these factors to determine. Hope that helps. 8. Dear Rachel, Rachel Low wrote: Can i know how to calculate lunar age correctly? Example: My birthday is on 28th April 1985. Is my lunar age 22 now? Or it is after my birthday then i can be considered 22? The accurate way is to to take count the passing of each birthday. We calculate the birth date from the date of birth to your next birthdate. Just similiar to how you calculate your western birth date. If based on that you are considered to be age 20 until you pass your birthday. If you count based on your lunar birthday, you will be 21 on 6 Apr 2006. Whereas, you will be 21 on 28 Apr 1985 if you take the western calendar. So since this based on your lunar calendar, as long as you pass 6 Apr 2006, you will be considered age 21. Hope that helps. P.S. Jason Wong wrote: Can you give example of Feng Shui Leaks to help me understand better? Thanks. You can try to check out this brief talk notes we use for our talk:- URL: http://talk.geomancy.net Basically, a feng shui leak we typically talk about is any problems within the house. For a house for example, if you have a corner across the building cutting into the house, therefore this is considered a leak. Or that you have a door opening to a window across. Missing Corner from a layout is also another leak. This is also another leak. So there are lots of leaks available. Hope that helps. 10. Dear I Hui, l hui wrote: According to my Ba Zi, I found out that I have the Flying Horse Star. Unfortunately, it clashes with a bad star that's supposed to bring bad luck (War Star). Is there a way to remedy this? Clashes or harms within your own ba zi chart is not easily corrected. However, it can be minimised by ensuring that you balance up your element. This means that say if you are a weak wood person, then water and wood are what you lack. So if you have more of these areas in your life (ie your house, your colour, your element, your friends etc). The more areas in your life, the better your overall luck. This will in turn reduce any inauspicious aspect from this clash from happening. Hope that helps. 11. Dear Pauline, Lim Pauline wrote: Hi, Please advise what is the auspicious time on 23 Jan 2005, Mon for collection of key & open door. Thank you. Hope my reply isn't too late. If you have the auspicious hourly analysis, you can choose the best time that fit both person. However, sometimes we find this very impractical where most hours only fit one person and not the other. Or where the best hour is at odd hours (ie 3am). Since once you choosen a good day, generally all the hours will be good for you. So the more practical is go for better sounding ie 8.58am or 8.59am or 9.58am or 9.59am. Generally, these are the better hoursand yet practical hours toget most things done. Hope that helps. 12. Dear Anon, Anonymous wrote: I am currently seated with the entrance to the cubicle diagonally behind me (about 7 o'clock position) but facing my prosperity direction. An alternative seating positon offered is with the entrance in the 2 o'clock position (diagonally in front to right) but then my PC will be facing my death direction. May I know which is the better choice? In both cases, having entrance directly towards your location, so both are really no the most ideal. Therefore, since you cannot completely get a position where you do have the entrance towards you, then at least go for the better sitting direction, so that you have that luck with you. So I will probably say go for the direction facing your prosperity direction. Hope that helps. Warmest Regards Robert Lee GEOMANCY.NET - Center for Applied Feng Shui Research
  13. Dear Anon, Anonymous wrote: my room is in the west, a little towards the north, which colour should i paint my room? Generally, in order to be able to recommend the best and most suitable colour scheme. We will need to assess your flying star chart for that sector. This way we know what element like Earth (Yellow) or Fire (red) or Wood (green/brown) to avoid. Furthermore, we also need to know your ba zi so as to know what element will best suit you. Otherwise, we can only advise on a general basis. White (Metal) is the most neutral colour that can avoid activating inauspicious stars from your flying star. Then you should based on your ba zi, if you are say a weak wood, and water is favourable for you. Therefore, you can choose very light blue (ie close to off-white colour). This way it will help you and still keepsome whitish colour to help balance any inauspicious sector. Hope that helps. Dear Anon, Anonymous wrote: According to your 30 days to moving websit,we are going to move into our new house on January 19, 2006. dear husband dob is March 1, 1962 at 11: 30 pm my is May 4, 1968 am both dates are in Lunar calendar. We wanted to know what is the good time to arrived at the new house Sorry, probably this reply come in a little too late. Anyway, if you do not know the best hours, then usually go for nice sounding ie 8.59am or 9.59am etc. The reason is because once a day is good, really it does not matter which hour you choose. All hours will generally favour you, only some hours better or less. However, the problem with some best hours that suit both person is that sometimes, they may only occur at wee hours which is not practical. Thus, we usually find that going for the sounding is the better alternative most of the time. Hope that helps. Warmest Regards Robert Lee GEOMANCY.NET - Center for Applied Feng Shui Research
  15. Dear Anon, Anonymous wrote: My husband and I live in an HDB 3 room flat. There are only 2 bedrooms. The master bedroom happens to be in his spook direction and my excellent direction. The other bedroom happens to be my death direction and his prosperity direction. Where should we place our bed? The master bedroom is overall a better direction for both of you. Reason is because if either person is Death or Disaster, then it won't really benefit. At least Spook or Disaster is acceptable. This is especially if the house suits your husband, then even if he has the least favourable room it is fine. The reason is because he will gain luck from the house. The better bedroom luck should usually be given to the spouse. So each will gain luck from at least one area. Anonymous wrote: A friend has given us a small water feature. The only position that we can find to put it is in the dinning area which is my death direction and my husband's prosperity position. Should we put the water feature there or should we give the water feature to someone else? Generally, we do not use the eight house sector to determine where to place the water feature. You must use the flying star to assess where is the water wealth position. Then placing it at that location to activate the water luck. For example, if period 8, then water star 8 tells you that there iswater star there to activate. So such water feature will be great to be place at that sector. If you only plan to place it as a decorative feature, then really place it where you feel most comfortable and really like it. Otherwise, if you do not like it then do not put it at all. Remember, that for decorative item, you should only place it if you feel good, otherwise no point and no use. Hope that helps. 17. Dear C K, C K Tan wrote: i have seen your advise to recommend to get a new bed if pregnant woman is moving. Can i check whether it refer to new bedframe or new mattress or both?if I have a mattress that i really want to keep, will it be ok if i follow all the rules (i.e. ask my wife not to be around during the move). Thanks!!! Generally, the most important is that your wife must not be present at the removal and installation of the bed. As long as this is followed, if you wish to keep or use the existing mattress or bed frame or both, you may do so. So make sure, she is not at the existing house to witness the removal of the bed, nor is she at the new house to witness the installation of the bed. If this is followed, then not an issue. 18. Dear Rachel, Rachel Low wrote: One day, i came across this "Ancient Chinese Gender Prediction Chart" which is used to help pregnant mums to predict the gender of their baby and couples to conceive on the appropriate month(according to gender). Rachel Low wrote: Can i check with you how true is this chart? Have you seen this chart before? I have attached a copy of the chart. Some people say to use lunar age with english month(month of conception)and some say lunar age with lunar month(month of conception). I am very confused. Hope that you can guide me. Yes, I have seen such a chart before. It is what most traditioaal people used to help check when is the best date to give birth to a boy or girl. This chart was derived based on some study that was done. I personally really cannot say how true it is as I did not really research into it. So,I leave it up to you to see if you believe it or not. But from what i heard from older generations, it has been quite accurate so far for those who had used it. So no harm to give it a try if you want to use it, then you can decide for yourself whether it is real or not from the actual results Hope that helps. 19. Dear Oliv, Oliv Sullivan wrote: What is the best color to paint a home office, where much time is spent, that is located in the SE sector? Since wood is the element for that direction, would green be the best color or blue (wood needs water)? If red is used would that affect finances adversely? Generally, for colour scheme, you need to really check what is the stars available in that sector based on your flying star. You want to avoid colours that will activate bad stars (ie star 2/5 or other bad stars). Thus, the most neutral colour for any sector is always White (Metal). Metal can help to exhaust star bad Earth Star and even Strong Wood Star. Thus, the room should avoid strong colour, best to be light pastel colours that ie off-white. Then the next, is based on the element common to theperson(s) staying in that room. If for example, Wood benefit both person, then some shades of Green/Brown will be best colour to adopt for the room. As long as you balance about at least 2 or 3 tone colour ie Metal (White) - Water(Blue) - Wood (Green), for example it will create a harmony of colours that will help to balance and create a nice ambience in the room. Hope that helps. Warmest Regards Robert Lee GEOMANCY.NET - Center for Applied feng Shui Research
  20. Dear Anon, Anonymous wrote: I will be shifting to my new house soon. I would like to find out where is the most suitable place in the masterbedroom to hang the wedding photograph ? A friendmentioned that it is not good feng shui to hang the wedding photograph on the wall above the bed headboard. Is it true ? Frankly, this is subjective. Some people believe that if you have the picture above the bed, it signify a married couple. While others, view it in such a way that if you constantly see too much ofit, sometimes it may create more friction especially if you see it every day and night. This is especially so maybe due to age, ie as you grow older, seeing photo of yourself looking younger or thinner can have more adverse effect on you, then positive effect. Furthermore, in a room, there is very little place to be able to place such a photo. So I would rather advise that you go based putting it where you best like to be able to view the photo, if you are the type that like to see the photo everyday. If not, then keep the photo in the photo album, and hang other pictures of scenary or anything that make you feel good. Generally, the best is to keep such photos in your album instead for memory. Hope that helps. Warmest Regards Robert Lee GEOMANCY.NET - Center for Applied Feng Shui Research
  21. Dear Oliv, Oliv Sullivan wrote: What is Huo Hai? I have been told have this at my front door entrance in the west sector. Generally, in flying star star 2/5 are considered illness/misfortune. So if you have such stars in that sector, then you are considered to have some huo hai (disasaster). If there are such stars, Metal is necessary to balance the sector. You can use the free flying star report in our member area to determine if there are such stars present. The other disaster to take note is the one from your suitability, ie West is Disaster sector. In this case, you can't do much here if this is your main door, because this is a matter of suitability. You can only attempt to correct or enhance other area, that you can fix or enhance. Hope that helps. Warmest Regards Robert Lee GEOMANCY.NET - Center for Applied Feng Shui Research.
  22. Dear Anon, Frankly, a layout would be easier for us to help you on such advise. Uncluttering is always good, but for advising where is best placement, a layout plan would speak a thousand word. Though, many factors will still need to be considered ie the best direction etc, however, the shapes and form placement is often quite important. So generally, there is usually one or two way to place a bed in most modern layout. Whether there are at least two different position, then you based on which direction will be most suitable for you. Hope that helps. Warmest Regards Robert Lee GEOMANCY.NET - Center for Applied Feng Shui Research
  23. Dear Ada, Ada C wrote: I have a 12 feet pine tree in my back yard. About 3 feet above the groud, the main trunk splits intotwo main trunks. Ada C wrote: Does this mean anything? My neighbour told me that is not good for feng shui, it that right? Should I cut it down? Generally, any single lone tree may create like a sha qi to the house. Which is why, it is better to create a garden with many different plants together to form a garden, rather than just a single tree or plant. This firstly, creates a better landscaping which makes it more pleasant to look at. Back to your question. Some people may view the splitting of tree trunk as inauspicious, because it represents a split. So may mean more disharmony for the house. Probably why your neighbout tell you it is not good. Because of this possible indication, itmight be better to remove it. As mentioned, it is better to do some landscaping to make it into a garden rather than just have one or two plants on a bare piece of land. Hope that helps. 24. Dear Anon, Anonymous wrote: I am a weak fire person and being told by another feng shui master to decorate my beauty salon in yellow and gold color, in order to bring wealth. Generally, as a weak fire, it means that you are generally lacking in either Fire or Wood. How much you actually lack or more less depends on the percentage of five element within your chart. Some weak fire is considerd lacking more Wood than Fire, or lacking more Fire than Wood, or lacking an equal amount of Wood and Fire. In general, if you lack wood and fire, you want to ensure that you enhance yourself with more of such element. You can find more about the five element and relationship from this link:- URL: http://talk.geomancy.net Metal is your wealth for a Fire person. However, unless you are strong enough, you may not benefit from having Metal. Earth on the other hand will weaken you further, so if just based on the ba zi element, this may not be the best type of colour for you. However, a full assesment basing on all factors must be considered before any proper advise can be given. But in general, the colours etc may not be that favourable for you. Hope that helps. 25. Dear Anon, Anonymous wrote: Is it advisable to live in an apartment fully round in shape? Generally, a square house is still the best. A fully round shape house will still be considered having missing corners at all 4 corners. So generally, will not be as good as a square shaped house. Furthermore, it will be extremely dificult to put in most furnitures that are basically designed in rectangular shape. The only good thing is being round, it can help defend against most sha qi as the building is like cutting outwards against other building.
