  3. The advantages of this kind of wooden fencing are: 1. It allows plenty of fresh air to flow into your home. 2. It provides extra privacy. 3. It blends softly and naturally with its surroundings, unlike brick or metal fencing.
  4. Dear Officer.. I have to use the wash room.. spare me the ticket...
  5. The Red House famous for the Katong Bakery and Confectionay has just re-opened. What a pity that the frontage did not use nicer signages. Since this is their main business front. P.S. Sorry for the blur images.
  6. Midtown Residences by Oxley-Lian Beng Pte Ltd T.O.P. in 2016 The Midtown complex, featuring a combination of residences and shops, appears to be experiencing the same challenges as the oversaturation caused by the rapid increase of malls in Singapore. However, this development is not lacking in appealing shapes and forms; The issue primarily lies in its inconvenient location on the outskirts of a small Hougang estate. Consider this perspective: a representative from a local bank once mentioned to me that when an ATM malfunctions, customers often express that even a 200-meter walk to the nearest machine feels excessive... As long as the rental prices remain reasonable, there will always be individuals willing to establish a shop or a small "stall" in this area, particularly for niche market ventures. One notable niche is the money lending sector. For instance, in Clementi Central, one can easily identify at least six or more such businesses around block 441A Clementi.
  7. The Midtown complex with a mix of residences and shops seems to share the fate of the glut in the sudden explosion of many Malls in Singapore. Although, this development does not have bad Shapes and Forms; This has more to do with it being inconveniently located at the fringe of a small Hougang estate. Look at it this way; there was once a spokesperson from a local bank who told me that when an ATM machine broke down; customers would complain that even a 200 metre walk to the next machine is too far... In the future, it may end up with the likes of a Sheng Siong or Giant ... taking over most of a level ... since there is already two NTUC Fairprice near-by.. Even so, the retail end of this Mall in a mature estate seems bleak even with a few developments coming up .. up stream at the apex of Upper Serangoon Road... Here, do remember that Feng Shui is not a cure-all. Last visit was on 11 August for a residential audit there. A new Coffeeshop just took over a vacant space. There is a huge moneylender’s signage....child care...
  8. One man's meat is another person's poison... This home's proudest display are the two flowering cactus plants...
  9. Most likely this may all together disappear within the life time of the older folks... Just maybe...
  10. Catholic: The Church of the Holy Family in Katong Even near-by roads are named after it. Such as Chapel Road. Did you see how many languages? English, Mandarin & Indian. Representing the wide influence it has with these three races in Katong. The construction of the road, now known as East Coast Road in early 1920 facilitated the development of Tanjong Katong. Some families purchased plots of land in the area, which included Mr. James Leonard Scheerder, who developed a coconut plantation around Marine Parade, Chapel and East Coast Road. The De La Salle Brothers also bought a plot of land, at which the St. Patrick's School now stands. At that time, the Brothers had some buildings along the East Coast where they conducted Holy Mass during the holidays. Shortly after the end of World War I, Reverend Father P. Ruadel, the parish priest of the Cathedral of the Good Shepherd approached Mr James Leonard Scheerder, for the donation of some land in Katong to build a chapel due to the growing Catholic community. Mr Scheerder conceded to the request on the condition that the land was to be used for the chapel and to be returned to the donor's estate, if it was not used by the chapel. In 1922. the foundation stone of the chapel was laid. The Chapel was completed and blessed by Bishop Barillon on 11th November 1923. As the Catholic community in Katong had outgrown the Chapel, it was demolished in 1931. The Church had obtained permission to use the Roxy Theatre to conduct their Sunday Holy Mass. On 19th June 1932, the new Church of the Holy Family was completed and blessed by Bishop Perrichon. By 1936, the church was made a parish. The first parish priest was Fr Pierre Ruaudel. In 1969 the Church underwent renovation and extension work which was completed by April 1970. To accommodate the increasing number of worshippers, it was pulled down on 29th December 1997 and replaced by the present building which was completed in December 1998.
  11. Traditional business wooden signage Nowadays many modern Chinese firms no longer use such signages: 1. Usually the horizontal or length-wise is based on odd measurements. This represents Yang. 1.1 The vertical side is even measurement: representing Yin. 1.2 For example: if the length of the sign is 127cm; the vertical side is 58cm etc. 2. A most distinct feature are the two support "animals" usually the Qi Ling or a pair of lions. 3. Less common are the two lotus leaf features of the second signage that of DJ Bakery. This signage is a modernist interpretation of the past... As it is embedded into the signage.
  12. This mature cactus plant can be the best deterrent to anyone wanting to illegally climb into a home...
  13. HDB Hougang Meadows recently T.O.P. It is good that the sub-station is not below any stacks or 2nd storey units This period, The Frangipanni tree is always chosen for both condos / ECs and HDB sites. This is the third HDB development that uses dry walls between the living room with a bedroom wall and the master bedroom with a 2nd bedroom wall.
  14. Firstly congratulations! Frankly, I have a busy schedule with lots of cases to review. Currently, the resources are more for those who have some knowledge of Flying Star Feng Shui. And the compass readings are to help those who are able; with the guidelines a catalyst for them to start preparing their worksheet. Frankly, not sure if I can add more resources at the moment. Given also that there are really lots more new sites to prepare.
  15. Innocent looking pods have metallic fins; and their proximity to near-by PES units may be considered a poison arrow. If they are aimed towards an opening such as a balcony or open windows.
  16. Just imagine you and your partner seated outside your villa at the East Coast viewing the sunset...
  17. The Glades Potential poison arrows from the structure
  18. Unique "ATAS" (PREMIUM LOOKING) retractable concealed main door hinge. Rarely seen at other condos. In fact, never at all. LOL
  19. Stratum Just T.O.P. One of the pools also has greenish mosaic tiles...
  20. Pavillion roof-lines aimed towards some neighbouring Twin Fountains block 104 stacks facing Ecopolitan. Even the vertical multi-support poles may also pose a threat...
  21. Deepavali / Diwali Festivity A wishing pool...
  22. Please note that this is considered as "Nice-to" have. If there is a big enough landing, some have even added a platform to "increase" the steps. But do consider the safety aspect ; first and foremost. The ground should not be considered as a step. See sample illustration.
